I’m going to post my thoughts on The Empire Strikes Back: Divergent Edition now.
Since I believe ESB:R to be a virtually perfect fan-edit of TESB, my fan-edit would be completely identical to Adywan’s in all regards save for the following exceptions:
GENERAL CHANGES
The same general alterations I suggested for SW:DE – reinserted original Fox logo; removed episode number; altered blaster colours; Luke’s recoloured lightsaber; etc. – would carry through in this one.
CHANGE #1
Make the lighting inside the cockpit of Veers’ AT-AT a harsh red.
IMPETUS FOR CHANGE
This alteration was actually suggested somewhere in the ESB:R thread as an alternative to removing the red from the AT-AT viewports, and these photos were taken from that thread*. I thought it was a damn good suggestion and would like to implement it myself.
*I’d give proper credit to whomever created these photos, but I can’t find the original post with the original copies.
CHANGE #2
Recolour the Executor’s engines blue.
IMPETUS FOR CHANGE
In my list of changes for SW, I mentioned I’d change the lighting aboard Vader’s TIE from red to blue 'cause I think blue is more his colour. As the Executor is his flagship, I feel the same principle applies.
CHANGE #3
Reinsert Capt. Needa’s TIE shuttle.
IMPETUS FOR CHANGE:
I’m rather fond of the TIE shuttle, even if it’s virtually indistinguishable from the TIE bomber.
CHANGE #4
Retain the original “closed up” interior of Cloud City for most shots while utilizing the “opened up” versions in shots taking place in those curved corridors.
IMPETUS FOR CHANGE:
I rather like the original look of Cloud City in the theatrical version, but I also like the look of the revised version. Why not have the best of both worlds?
And that’s it. Those are the changes I’d make to TESB.
As for ROTJ, I originally had some ideas in mind for a fan-edit, but I no longer care enough about the film to bother with it. So, short of gaining millions of dollars and a time machine back to 1983 to do some extensive reshoots with the original cast, there will be no ROTJ:DE. Thus the Star Wars Trilogy: Divergent Edition has became the Star Wars Duology, Divergent Edition.
