I'd like to invite any o-OT fans in the Tucson, AZ area to a showing of all 3 THX laserdiscs on Tuesday, May 17th. I've reserved a room with a projector and I'll be hauling in some nice speakers and equipment. Should be a lot of fun

Sorry, my wife's not a huge Texas fan..

I hear there is some nicer land in east Texas, though... any CS jobs over there?

Haha.. sorry, college abbreviation. CS=computer science. So, are there any programming jobs over where it's nice (pine trees, in Texas?

Slightly back on topic, the semester is winding down a bit (finals still loom, but that's next week), so I've had the chance to mess with some pre-movie entertainment (slides and ep3 trailers). I've encoded the freebie Quicktime ROTS teaser and a much better quality HDTV official trailer to xVCD (I don't have a DVD burner, but xVCD works decently when given 720x480 rez and 2500k bitrate. It looks just like DVD, maybe a tad blocky with too much action). Also putting together a VCD slideshow of spoiler pics.. hopefully the soundtrack will arrive soon, and I'll be able to play that during the slides. I can hardly wait!

Pfft. There's programming jobs all over Dallas. But if you have a good gig going right now, hold on to it. You really have to put in some research to get a good programming job here. They're available, but getting one that pays right and treats you good requires a weeding out process. There are some positions at my job, but I wouldn't recommend them based on the people I've talked to from that department.

BTW I noticed you're new also. Welcome.
