New rumor - Hayden to dub over James Earl Jones for future SW DVDS!

Author

I know it sounds ludicrous, but I'm now hearing rumors that for a future Star Wars DVD re-release, George Lucas will redub all of James Earl Jones dialogue with the voice of Hayden Christensen for "continuity" (there was also word of Hayden being Vader's voice in ROTS).

I don't think even George Lucas is that dumb, yet, it's easy to imagine him considering it.

Although real fans know that Vader just isn't Vader without James Earl Jones' voice (no disrespect to David Prowse intended).
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Considering that JEJ was brought in to do the Darth Vader lines in EP3, that is absolutely rediculous.

Thats exactly what I'm going to say. However, I've heard of them "vocie splicing" as in merging Hayden's voice with JEJ's. Listen to "Yes, Master" at the end of the old teaser. I believe that is the result of that. However, I don't think they are doing that shit anymore (thank god), because in the new TV spots "Yes, Master" sounds purely JEJ.

I was here long before you were, Jedikev, and so far I haven't taken any shots at you as an individual, so don't give me any crap about trolling.

I always thought that It was "Mixed" in the way that David Prowse's dialog and JEJ were mixed.

1) This is ridiculous. James Earl Jones is Vader's voice, and Lucas isn't dumb enough to change that. That would be Brennon and Braga level stupidity/disreguard.

2) Jedikev, you really over-react. If you're going to joke like that, put in some emoticon or something to let us know.

I'd be open to hearing a mix of Hayden's voice mixed wth JEJ's. I know what you mean about the trailer. I noticed it too. Particularly the way he said "Master".

For those of us who loved the OT and want to keep it sacred, but would also like to see a version of the Star Wars saga that is completely integrated with all six episodes, I think that a process like that would be ideal to keep you connected with the character of Anakin.

Maybe it'll be easier to visualize after seeing Episode III, but right now the thing that makes it hardest for me to reconcile Anakin/Hayden as Vader is the English accent or whatever JEJ was going for. It was of course great for the originals, but when watching them all as one movie, I'd really like to have that connection, even a very subtle connection to the image of Anakin in my mind when watching Darth Vader. Just a slight hint of the man he used to be.

Then again, I also wouldn't be opposed (if done well) to putting Hayden in prosthetics and reshooting the Vader unmasked scene at the end of ROTJ, eliminating Shaw completely. Again, Shaw's English accent, barely noticable, but still. I think it would make the "saga edition" more complete. The originals are fine on their own.

By the way, HS vs. IJ, where did you hear this? Last I heard Lucas was reported as saying everything is the "way he wants it now", and no changes would be made to future DVD releases, which I don't believe, but as far as I know, it's the "official" stance they're taking right now.

Oh F*CK no...

If Vader is voiced by Hayden in the final film....(I tollerated the teaser)...Lucas has fallen even further off the apple tree than I ever thought possible.

Calm down.

Since when has Solo Vs Jones been the most reliable member here. Still, it would suck phenominally if the whiny pansy HC made Anakin came through in Vader's voice.

I thought all of these Hayden being Vader's voice rumors were debunked months ago?

Hayden is not the voice of Darth Vader in Episode III, nor will he be recording his voice to be mixed in with or replace James Earl Jones'.

I don't know where Solo/Jones HEARD this rumor, but it's nowhere worth a crap, I can say that. I'm half inclined to put forth the idea the "Rumor" was him sitting around and thinking about how to make Lucas look like a douchemouth--and he came up with this

Seriously though--it's not happening. No one anywhere has actually SAID it's happening, and the prospect has never even been APPROACHED anywhere on the internet until just now, in this thread.

I tend to agree with this statement.

Perhaps when my edit of Ep. II (and someday Ep. III) comes out, you'll give that a try. Since Anakin is being redubbed, the new voice is closer to JEJ, and every attempt will be made to read the lines with the types of inflections that JEJ used.

Sorry, Hayden! When I'm finished, Hayden's whiny voice will not be heard in ANY movie in the saga.
