No...it didn't improve things. It made the love story even more condensed and even less believable. I forget which scenes were cut though....I think Anakin riding that dumb ass thing was cut...but something more was missing...maybe the floating fruit thing.

I'm still of the opinion that AOTC was worse than TPM.
