I love the artwork created for this custom bluray set, but only see the BD50 case templates. Did anyone do BD25 case artwork for the individual movie discs, by any chance?

Finally burned them all woo hoo! Any recommendations cover inserts that would fit a criterion case? Looking to put together an 8 disc set (two 2-disc cases and one 3-disc case) to hold the movies, special features, and documentaries.

Check out ronwlim’s set. Pretty much the best set out there for criterion cases. Some assembly required if you want the full package though.

thanks I am going to run with romwlim’s set. I am creating a 17mm 3 disc case for return of the jedi so I may stretch out the spine a little to accommodate it. I’ll make sure to save changes in case someone here is interested in that.

Hey, I got a spleen invite from someone, but all I can find is the BD25 versions. Have the others been removed or am I just not using the right search terms? I’d really like the BD50 versions and the documentary discs if at all possible. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

don’t search for njvc in the filename, only some really old out of date ones are under that. instead do a user search for njvc, and view all the user’s uploaded torrents. 😄

Hi,

Sorry but I have computer skills akin to a large stinking pile of bantha poo.

Can anyone tell me where I actually download these bluray friendly versions? I can’t work it out.

Cheers

Paul.

I’ve really enjoyed these since I downloaded them and burned them, but I’ve had some developments with the playback that I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on.

I played back the first disk that I burned successfully, and it looked great. I used my less than a year old samsung tv, hooked to my PC via HDMI. I used VLC and played the disk in my PC’s Bluyray drive. All good. Then I put the same disk in my PS4, and it looked pretty bad. Lots of noise, and the colors were garish. Same disk, same TV.

Digging around, I finally looked at the resolution, and saw that my PS4 resolution was set to “automatic”. I figured that would be OK, but when I manually changed it to 720p, the picture was perfect. So I guess playing 720p media at 1080p looks bad, and that’s what my PS4 was doing?

So what I’m wondering is whether or not there is something on disks themselves that is supposed to tell the PS4 what resolution it should output at, or if it’s just determined by the TV it’s hooked to. Does the PS4 (and other stand-alone players) just assume that any bluray will be 1080p? I’ve got this to where I’m watching them fine, but I’m curious how much tinkering they will take to look good if I try to take them over to someone’s house to play or something.

Any thoughts on this from you guys would be an education for me. I’ve learned a ton through the burning process so far, and anything else you guys can add would be much appreciated!

Not sure what your issue is, there. It sounds like you’re just discussing whether it is the PS4 or the TV doing the upscaling (assuming you have a 1080p TV), and in your case the PS4 upscale looks poor? Even stranger that it would affect the color. Or do you have a 720p TV? I’m sure I’m pointing out the obvious, but do you have different color settings for your PS4 input? And/or do you happen to have it on ‘game mode’ to reduce input lag?

I’ve played these discs in my PS4 and don’t recall any issues. Though I’m not sure I watched through the entire film, I probably flipped through the whole thing (having been responsible for the color of it, it’s pretty much impossible for me to just start it up without scanning through the whole thing and criticizing my work. 😃 ). I haven’t noticed any issues with the PS4 upscaling 720p to 1080p or 2160p (it’s pretty sucky at DVD upscale and deinterlacing as I understand it), but I can check this disc again. PS4 is not an uncommon blu-ray player, so I feel like someone would have mentioned it already if there was a major issue.

I’ll see if a little more information helps. My TV is 1080. As far as different color setting or “game mode”, those can’t be the issue, because all I have to do is change the resolution to 720 and it looks great again. When I change the resolution in the PS4 main settings, of course it affects everything, so instead I looked in the Bluray app settings, and found one called “Output at 1080p/24 Hz”. By default it is set to “Automatic” which looks bad again, but when I choose the only other option which is “Off”, it looks great.

It definitely does affect the color though, or at least how it’s being perceived by me. I would describe it as when you turn up the gamma on a photo. It’s not unwatchable, but pretty noticeable when you’re used to seeing your beautiful color work the way it’s supposed to be.

So maybe it is an issue with the PS4 upscaling, but I don’t really know how that works, or why no one else would be talking about it if it is an issue.

If you do pull this stuff out to take a look, would you mess with the option when you hit “Options” while the disk is playing, Settings> Video Playback Settings> Output at 1080p/24 Hz = “AUTOMATIC” or “OFF”, just to see if there’s something there that strikes a chord?

At this point I’m more curious than anything, because I have at least found a setting that works, but I’d be interested in seeing if this is an issue in anyone else’s player.

I’ve always wanted to jump into the world of fan edits, but just recently I have decided to take the plunge.

Sorry if I missed the answer somewhere because I have read around, but if I want to download the Despecialized movies with these menus and special features (basically the recommended options 3 and 4 in the OP) how would I go about to even start?

Thanks again in advance!

Edit: is this spleen website invite thread the way to do it?

I believe yeah, MySpleen is what you need. I think njvc has placed his uploads on that site and you need an invite in order order to use it since it doesn’t have open registration.
