You can’t love the PT and all the other films. Of course, that would be silly.

You can’t?

I meant this somewhat sarcastically. I don’t see any reason why a PT lover shouldn’t love all the films, and yet every PT lover seems to think them far superior to the OT and doesn’t like the new films at all.

The prequel films are nowhere near the quality of ANH or ESB but I think mixed in with the dislike people have for them is that it changed the story/characters they always thought they were. It seems like the film adaptation of a novel effect. People had ideas about what the Jedi Knights were, who Anakin Skywalker was, how the Clone Wars played out, how the Empire was formed and these films didn’t agree with that.

Personally, I don’t have a problem with any of that, though many people do. In fact, I grew up liking the PT, and I resisted PT hate because I misunderstood it at first as people being mad that they weren’t like how they thought they would be. But, watching them again, being older, that’s not what annoys me at all. Terrible acting, dialogue, and characterization are the main things I can’t get past. And then there’s shit pacing, humor, CGI, and uninteresting/convoluted/unbelievable plots on top of that. In nearly every way they’re just not good movies. Their treatment of SW lore honestly doesn’t even factor in for me.
