I've been playing a "finished" version of the infamous beta 3 version of Star Fox 2 (unreleased game for SNES), I must say it's a pity they didn't release it...

StarFox Assault has some great things going for it, but the on-foot sections are really meh and the Tank controlls absolutely suck. The first level makes it worth a rental, but other than that I can't recommend it.

It is a rom, dumped from a prototype cart that was "smudgled" out from the computer software company that programed the game for nintendo (I can't remember the name right now). It is a final beta, although I think the game was not complete. The game feels choppy, "normal" and "hard" modes are too easy and "expert" mode is too hard, it feels like there's something missing from the final boss sequence, and the ending sequence is missing something, it's too simple... And the music sounds like a filler version, not 100% final.

Anyway, they got this prototype and dumped the rom. It was filled with debug infomations and some major bugs, and it was in japanese. A group translataed the game and made a patch to fix some of the bugs. Still, the game crashes in some emulator, so a special version of snes9x was made so that Star Fox 2 could be fully playable.

I've palyed both "normal" and "hard" mode, and the games feels awesome, although I'm sure it was not fully completed. They didn't release it because they feared it would hurt N64 sales and they wanted to use some ideas from Star Fox 2 into Star Fox 64 (such as free range mode and the Star Wolf gang). I say it's nonsense, it would have been the best SNES game ever... It would probably be Nintendo's last...

I heard just the opposite from several people. So many people have said the on-foot stuff is great and that the tank portion is even better than the tank in Halo 2.

What's on the soundtrack?

It's orchestral music composed for the game, but it sounds very good... Sounds like a major motion picture soundtrack...

The music and graphics are great; It is the gameplay that's half broken.

I intend to play it someday and give it my final veredict.

The multiplayer is fun. Make sure you have some "friends" or random people you don't know or like but enjoy videogames to play with.

As fun as the multiplayer in Goldeneye 64? I loved to play multiplayer on that one, we never had so many laughs for killing one another...

As many of you may know, I am a big fan of XPlay.

And who do you think I saw at CIII, dressed up in Jedi Robes?

Morgan Webb herself.

I'll upload the pics later, as I have to scan them first.

That's flippin' awesome.

Is it true that Sessler left X-PLay or was that an April Fool's joke?

It was an April Fools' joke.

I saved that ep on my DVR, that Meet the Sess segment is hilarious!

Random Guy -- "Just because Grand Theft Auto sold a million copies, in no way proves that gaming has gone mainstream."

Sess -- "If I ever said something that stupid, I'd shave my ass and shoot myself."

Sess -- "You want to know how to protect Social Security? You send robot jackals from the future to consume the Geriatrics of the present."

And that whole part where he is beating up the guy that liked Xenosaga.

So who's up for Ep III the game? I want to play it but I also don't want to be spoiled.

My thoughts exactly.

In that vein, I almost hope it sucks. Almost.

I played a demo at CIII for about 3 minutes before I was pushed off of it by a crowd of like 2000 people.

But that 3 minutes kicked all kinds of ass.

For some reason I like Star Wars games even if they suck. I played the crap out of Jedi Power Battles and Phantom Menace.

The Phantom Menace didn't really suck. It was a mediocre game with terrible terrible graphics.

It was awesome. It was basically just a straight up 'brawler' somewhat based on the events of TPM. The gameplay was very tight, save for the HORRENDOUS jumping parts.
