Honestly the TFA soundtrack has maybe two memorable tracks and the rest are just “homages” to earlier iconic tracks or instantly forgettable.

Williams got old and he’s less interested in bombastic approach. But on the other hand, a cue such as “jedi steps” is so moving I could almost cry listening to it. Action cues are still better than anything you can hear in modern cinema… with the exception of Giacchino at his prime (John Carter, Jupiter Ascending, Tomorrowland… I would add his marvelous Medal of Honor soundtracks but it’s not cinema).

I forgot The Clone Wars movie soundtrack which is terrible, but the series anthology has great cues. Rebels is weaker (too many tracks are blatant rip-off of James Horner work) but there is enough good material to make a great selection out of it.
