Ok, got it, another question, v3.0 will be the final version of all the 3 episodes? should i wait v3.0 to burn them?

If I’ve been paying attention, v2.5 of Empire would be the last of the 720p Harmy releases.
I’m waiting on that to burn this set. v3.0 will be in 1080p (if I’ve been paying attention!)

I thought I recognized your foul stench when I entered this forum!

Doesn’t sound as painful as borning a baby but still sounds unpleasant.

I don’t know, I think the disc would be quite painful due to its sharp edges. Babies don’t have sharp edges but they are larger.

My Uncle was born with sharp edges… He always was a chip of the old block! 🙌

I am proud to say I remember the 80’s!

Hi there! I just learnt about the new versions but I am a newbie on how to get the propper files to enjoy the new trilogy versions at home. Can anyone help me? I need the correct nzb file for the DVD9 versions. (As I work on a Mac I can’t run any .exe files neither) Thank you and may the force be with us!

Hi gamexl!

Did you ever get any help from anyone?

I’m not sure why you would need an nzb file, even using a Mac.

Once you have the links to all the rar files, it’s just a matter of downloading them with a download manager (for speed’s sake) and extracting them.

Can you give some more details on what step it is in the process of downloading and extracting that giving you problems?

Did you notice the post directly above yours??? In case you’re still not tracking, make sure to click the expand buttons…

On NZBKing, search for “despecialized AVCHD” and Towne32’s 2.7 version of Star Wars is the top hit. All parts are there, so it should download fine.

Great! Thank you for the information. Just what I needed!

Sometimes I’m not sure if people remember to read before posting…

In case you needed clarification, nzbs are usenet files. Much like a torrent file, they can be loaded into a usenet reader/downloader program, and the program will download the file and (usually) unpack it. Usenet has the advantage of saturating your download bandwidth, unlike torrents which only download at the speed of the connected peers’ allowed upload bandwidth.

Dear ahughes03,
Yes thnak you. I got help by the fine people on this forum. And I asked for nzb files because I usualy work with them. I prefer how Usenet files work above Torrent ones. I found the trilogy and already have seen ‘A new hope’ in it’s most glorious original version to date!
So everyone here on Original Trilogy who helped and care about the project: Thanx! And a great shout out to the guys who make this all possible, expecialy Harmy! On top of that I wish you all a great 2017! May the force be with y’all!!!

Been a huge fan since I saw Episode IV in 1977 at the cinema in Barcelona, Spain!!

So what do we think of the mention of the 4k restoration mentioned by Gareth Edwards here? Do you think this is something they did themselves? Or do you figure it is the result of the much sought after “presentation”? http://lwlies.com/interviews/gareth-edwards-rogue-one-a-star-wars-story/

Are you referring to Mike’s presentation? Gareth’s rummaging of the archive would have occurred much, much earlier.

I’m pretty sure there are other threads where this is being discussed, but I forget where exactly. 😃

I muxed schorman’s synced original stereo LD transfer, which is GOUT NTSC synced, but am getting a section of the movie that is out of sync (needed a 250ms delay in VLC to look right to me). I haven’t nailed down exactly where it goes out of sync, but it’s out when Luke first arrives to Dagobah and stays out of sync until the reel change where Leia hurts her hand.

Just wondering if anyone knows why.

EDIT: Put this in the wrong thread. This is about Empire. I’m not sure how to delete it now, but will also post it there.

So from what I’ve been seeing around there is going to be one final release of each film which will be 3.0 using the 35mm prints that poita is getting and these will be in 1080p (or higher)?

Is this the case or is this going to be an ongoing project forever?

It’ll be 1080p because it will be the blu-ray merged with those scans, and nothing of lower quality included.

No one can ever say for sure what the final release will be for projects like these. If you look at anyone’s project threads here, you’ll see them suggest something is a final release, followed by years of updates on continuing work and additional releases, etc. There’s always room for improvement, so it’ll be done when Harmy is completely sick of it. 😃

(but yes, 3.0 is a ways off and no one has ever suggested anything to come after 3.0)

4 right? (K). Just kidding, but not really. It won’t end unless we get a perfect print scan or a real OUT release.

Don’t forget about the 2004 HDTV version for replacing 2011 Blu-ray changes.

Hi

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with burning the avchd version on a Mac.

I can’t seem to find the blank dvd’s large enough to burn either New Hope of Empire strikes back, as they’re both above 8.5 gigs.

from what I understood, I had to just copy the files unto the disk in Finder to initiate the burning, but with the file size I don’t know what I’m to do?

does anyone have a solution, or would this require a Blu Ray burner, if so does anyone have any suggestions?

Burn to the 8.5gb discs. It’ll work just fine.

What you need to do is have a blank disc in the drive, then open the Star Wars disc file in disk utility and then just hit the burn button

Basically, Darth Lucas means you need to burn to double layer discs.

Hi Adey77,
I also have a Mac and downloaded the avchd version of Star Wars. (Star Wars Despecialized 2.7 AVCHD) When I check the size of the file on my Mac it says it’s 8.48Gb on disk. So it should be possible to burn on a dual layer DVD (also known as a DVD9). I recommend using Toast Titanium. I don’t want to burn the avchd version but I’ve imported the files to see what Toast Titanium has to say about it and it seems there’s no problem. The software reads that it will take 7.90 Gb on the disk and that there will be 56.5 Mb of free disk space left.
I hope this helps.

This is what I did and can confirm it worked. Actually, I saved as a disk image with Toast to burn in Disk Utility on another computer.

Anyone know if there’s a plan to do Episodes V and VI? For some reason I got it in my mind that this was all three episodes and was disappointed to see it was only Episode IV (I am still very grateful for just this one though).

Episode V is on version 2.0 (Harmy is working on 2.5) and VI is on version 2.5.

Empire and Jedi have already been done, and IMO are already in much better condition than Star Wars. They have separate discussion threads in this forum. A newer version of Empire is currently in the works.

the AVCHD files I have are large, New hope is about 8.6 and Empire is 8.7, only return shows up as being around 8.3 in finder.

I’m not sure why mine are showing as being larger than your versions.

Are you sure you’re looking at the filesize for just the files that will go to disk?

OSX changed the way it reports filesizes, starting in OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard). see: http://blog.macsales.com/1852-snow-leopard-changes-they-way-we-look-at-gigabytes-and-megabytes-and-kilobytes-as-well

so, you are probably both using different versions of OSX. This is why comparing filesizes is a bad way to check for similar files. do a sha256sum and compare output.
