So if I were interested in finding the Silver Screen Edition of Star Wars by Team Negative1, where could I get it?

My last 2 Christmas presents didn’t get opened, check your PMs!

Just to make sure people know, but SSE 1.6 and Jedi Grindhouse are GOUT synced.SSE uses a few Blu Ray frames and Jedi has some black frames. The black frames are noticeable, but don’t ruin the experience. For SSE, unless you know exactly where the BD frames are, you will not notice them.

That’s strange. I got one from someone else with a link to the SSE on Mega, but that’s the only one that showed up. I only have one PM on my page.

No, synced is a timing thing. All GOUT-synced audio will work with any GOUT-synced video, so people’s lips match up with the words coming out of their mouths, etc. Silver Screen isn’t GOUT-synced, so you are a little more limited in your audio options (or you add dark frames for the missing video to make it GOUT-synced, either way).

Just to clarify: Star Wars Silver Screen Edition v1.0 is not GOUT sync’d but v1.6 is.

Glad to hear. Do you know if filling in the gaps was accomplished with GOUT frames or black frames, or some other method?

A grindhouse is an old movie theater. The Grindhouse versions of the original trilogy are restorations of original theatrical film reels shown in 1977, 1980, and 1983.

I’d say they are preservations of old reels. If they were restored they wouldn’t be Grindhouse versions anymore 😉

Version 1.6 of the SSE is gout-synced though!

All kinds of methods were used - occasionally frames were repeated, sometimes they were recreated from nothing using photoshop and other tools based on nearby frames, and in at least one case frames were taken from the blu-ray, color matched, blurred and grained with some dirt and dust added to make them blend better. No black frames were used, except between Reels 1 and 2 where it had faded to black anyway, and no GOUT frames were used either. I’m quite pleased with the results.

Err… I somehow missed the entire 2nd page of the thread, didn’t realize it had already been
adressed. Sorry 😉

What does “grindhouse” mean in the context of Star Wars?

Around here, “grindhouse” is a term to unofficially, IMO, describe the type of a video-scan release of a movie print where there would be no digital photo retouching done to it, so the content would be in whatever the condition the release print was when it was scanned – complete with print marks, color fading, skipped frames, with a sound track that has clicks and pops in the background—just the way the audience in the theatre would have seen it.

Thank you to Memorex and alexp120 for the additional information about the meaning of grindhouse. That makes a lot of sense.
