Carrie Fisher Suffers Major Heart Attack — Page 6

A witty, bold and illuminating presence without whom the Star Wars films would have been quite dull. If you can get hold of her appearance on The Graham Norton Show in London two weeks ago, you can forget she’s gone for 45 minutes.
So long, Princess.

This was sad news indeed. Rest in peace, you’ll be remembered by the fans, always!

Star Wars was so much a part of growing up that it’s like someone in the extended family has passed. 😦

A few moments ago I was telling my wife about how I’d posted my favorite picture of Carrie a couple of weeks ago (on here, in another thread) and how I’d mentioned that, as a young man back then, I thought she was so beautiful and so perfect. As I was talking to her just now, I felt my throat tighten as I struggle with this.

I’m much more bothered by this than I expected or realized. I just saw her in Rogue One yesterday. I saw my princess from 1977 again. This is a bad day.

I’ve been trying to think of what to say but I just can’t come up with anything. It’s just impossible to believe.

A true talent lost.

May the Force be with her, always.

Very saddened to hear this today.

She brought a lot of entertainment and joy to so many people, and provided a role model for so many young women and girls over the years. RIP Carrie, a true loss for us all.

I… I wish I were dead too…

Not something she would appreciate as a response to her passing. If you feel suicidal seek immediate help but don’t attach it to someone who would very much like to be alive and point out these things out to you. Seriously if you want to honour her memory remember her mental health advocacy and get your thoughts checked up.

When I first saw the news, I was shocked. I watched Rogue One this weekend, and seeing Leia’s face in the final scene gave me a sense of joy for the film, even if it wasn’t really Carrie Fisher. I knew something would happen eventually, but i never thought anything would happen so soon. Like all of us, she was a huge part of our childhoods and it is sad to see her go, just when she’s being reintroduced to a new generation of fans. My condolences go out to her family, and I hope the best for them. However, I would like to put this on a lighter note.

I may be an idiot for writing this, and a bigger idiot for sounding preachy and getting some bits wrong, but I guess I’m tired after everything that has happened this year. I can’t deny that Carrie Fisher, Princess Leia, has passed away, and I’m not saying we should stop mourning, but I would like to remember her for all the happy memories she gave us. She gave a terrific female role model, and she didn’t stop encouraging the fans, even though we can be crazy. We loved her. She knew it and gave it back willingly.

Plus, Carrie was a badass, like everyone on the SW cast. She went through drugs, family problems, and much more, yet she managed to pull through. So, let us remember her for the badass she was, for the badass role she played, and being badass while doing it.

I’ll cry when I think of that princess warrior from a galaxy far, far away, but I hope I can also smile and remember all the fun I had watching Carrie Fisher as Leia, our rebel, our princess, and our hero.

Thank you, Carrie Fisher. May the Force be with you, your friends and family, and everyone.

Screw lightsabers, I’ll stick with regular swords. At least they won’t blow up in my face like this franchise has.

Damn, in hindsight I really wish she had a more prominent role in TFA. Rest in peace.

Here’s to hoping she has a stronger role in Episode VIII.

that is not funny.

Why in the world would you think this is supposed to be “funny”?

I certainly hope she gets a more consequential role in the plot, not to mention some good screen time with Hamill.

It wasn’t meant to be funny Warb. She’s in the next movie and hopes she has a stronger role.

it has to be a joke as it is not possible for her to have a stronger role in the next film. She’s dead.

Warb, take a deep breath and stop looking for things to take offense to today. It’s a simple statement hoping Carrie has more screentime in Episode 8 is all. Nothing more.

Oh, she had already filmed all her scenes? Ok. I didn’t know that. My apologies.

So sad about Carrie. I am glad that I got the chance to see her in Anaheim. She is a class act and great with the fans and a “real” person. 2016 has been very rough. The list put out earlier was missing Glenn Frey and Alan Thicke. So many shockers and it reminds us how delicate life is, and hopefully we will remember that before we do or not do things that we could later regret. Carrie will always have a place in my heart because of her role in Star Wars and how much it affected my childhood and the rest of my life. I still hold onto that sense of wonder and excitement and belief in the supernatural, even though in my head I know they were make believe.

As a side note, I have been thinking about how this might affect the movies. I don’t know what is going to happen in Episode 8, but I hope she was a big part of it, and that in Episode 9, they can keep her in the story in the way that Luke Skywalker was in Episode 7. Talk about her and keep her as a major part of the story, but she won’t have any screen time unless it is a brief CGI cameo or if they can reuse some that was meant for 8. I don’t want them to rewrite the originally intended story for 8 or 9, unless it make it better and would have happened regardless.
