The Ultimate Edition of the score from The Phantom Menace is incredible and has a ton of fantastic unused music. I wish all the movies had gotten a soundtrack release like that.
I’d say I wish all the movies got a release like the OT special edition soundtracks. Those contain all the cues, unedited. The TPM Ultimate Edition has a lot of great stuff that wasn’t included on the OST, but it has all the music edits from the film which means, particularly in the climax, things tend to become a bit of a mess.
You make a very fine point and I agree.
Just got back from my second watch. Even better than the first. To me, it’s really a much deeper and serious film than any of the others. Felicity is fantastic, as is her character.
The scene once they’re back inside the ship after the failed rescue on Eadu is maybe her best moment. The tension in the ship when she confronts Andor is palpable. Her wavering between anger and emotional distress is perfect. She is clearly unmoored emotionally and choking back a breakdown.
The score was much more engaging than I’d remembered. Buying it in 3…2…
I can’t imagine I’ll ever prefer any other Star Wars entity over this one. I’m a very happy fan.
Had that same feeling myself on the second go-round.
