Still, that is like asking people to use fanfiction as canon. Because all EU novels are essentially glorified fanfiction.
Some of them are really good fanfiction, mind you, but nonetheless. Episodes based on the Thrawn Trilogy would be so awesome, though. That would rock the SW fandom's collective socks.
