Also, for some reason I welled up when Jimmy Smits was talking with Mon Mothma about “recruiting the jedi that served you in the Clone Wars”. Something just clicked for me right there. Like I could finally accept that the original six films, while half terrible, may really have taken place in the same universe after all.
Same here. I’ve always felt that there was a disconnect between the Prequels and the OT, but something about this movie helped to smooth that over. Maybe it had something to do with Saw Gerrera. I don’t want to get too political here, but when the Rebels attacked that convoy on Jedha my mind immediately jumped to the Taliban. I thought back to the Onderon arc in TCW, and how the Republic armed those rebels to fight the CIS, only for Saw to turn those arms back on the Empire. I’m convinced this was done on purpose as a reference to the Mujahideen.
