If we could get a film with Rogue One’s brain and TFA’s heart, we’d have a perfect late period Star Wars movie. Here’s lookin’ at you, Rian.

This is really what it boils down to for me… This film does not treat the audience like some kind of thicko.

It respects it’s audience that it can actually think. Whilst it does have heart because you do feel for the characters when they pop their cloggs.

When Han died in TFA it was just oh ok they killed him bye Han… the way it was done I never felt anything.

In Rogue one I did feel something for the characters so Rogue One at least for me wins on both counts.

Although it would always be nice to get more character development Rogue One used it’s screen time ever so well, and you can’t fault it for achieving so much in such a small space of time with an ensemble cast I think.

Well said.

Even though I agree what joefavs said, you can read it like R1 didn’t have any heart. I think it had very much of it, too. The guys who made this had their hearts in the right place and I think it showed. Maybe it didn’t have as much heart as TFA but just the right amount, TFA went a little overboard at times. R1 didn’t toot its own horn nor did it need to.
