That’s true, go ahead and post in the my spleen forms and ask him what you should do and if it’ll be a problem. At least then you’ll get authoritative advice. 😃

Hello, I’m a huge fan of Star Wars and the work that has gone into Star Wars fan edits and preservations, especially earlier versions of Harmy’s Despecialized Editions. I would greatly appreciate a myspleen invite, and pledge to seed.

I own the official IV-VI blu-rays, and can still remember how excited I was when the letterbox versions of the VHS tapes came out, because I could see MORE of the Star Destroyer in that first New Hope shot.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in order to obtain the preservation effort ‘Despecialized’ versions, you have to own the official releases. Otherwise the entire project could be jeopardized. Grab the official Blu rays and then I am sure an invite will not be a problem. Cheers.

While I agree, as doing this is kind of a win-win for everybody, I’d like to play devil’s advocate for a moment. If people continue to buy the official blu-ray, wouldn’t that essentially tell Disney “this version is fine, no need to release the unaltered trilogy because we will just continue to buy anything you release, regardless”? While making sure to own the official releases before downloading the fan edits is the morally correct thing to do, the whole “vote with your wallet” concept kind of goes out the window by doing that. Just a thought…

fine for a thought experiment, but it goes against the rules and principles of this site, and its members.

I understand that, and like I said, I agree with the rule. It just sucks there isn’t another way to show Disney what we really want. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

I think we’re pretty vocal and have made ourselves clear with petitions in the past. At the same time, we’re probably a small minority of the fans compared to the bulk of people who likely just buy, watch, and enjoy the blu-rays. It’d be a drop in the bucket if we protested buying them (it has been suggested here before), and they would never even notice.

Even if our numbers were substantial enough, you’re right that voting with your wallet is a perfectly valid tactic. But the correct version of that route means voting with your wallet by not buying, downloading, or watching Star Wars unless you’re getting the 2006 bonus DVD or something. Not buying anything official but watching Despecialized anyway (which is made from the blu-rays, of course) is protesting the idea of paying for movies. Plenty of people do that (piracy), and I don’t think the movie industry is lending an ear to their cause. 😄

Could some generous soul upload the synced Mr. Plinkett commentary track for ANH, from the 50GB download, by itself?

Well, I need the 1985 LaserDisc mix of Star Wars and the 1993 mix of the entire trilogy, the 1993 LaserDisc audio commentaries and each movie’s DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix by themselves.

I am making my own DVD-9 (not AVCHD, just a regular DVD) out of them and the only thing I need to do with these audio tracks is to take the DTS 5.1 core from the DTS-HD Master Audio track and put the DTS 5.1 core and everything else on the DVD.

My DVD-9 will most likely have no extras unless I do a bonus disc, and if so, they will only be the bonus features on the 1993 Definitive Collection LaserDisc and another bonus disc for From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga since that was included on the Executor set, which I am mostly basing this on.

Now, I am still a beginner in authoring DVDs so any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

And I’ve loved every pixel of it.

I own the blurays for both the Original Trilogy, the Family Guy parodies, and Robot Chicken (I couldn’t bring myself to buy the prequels). I have harmy’s versions burned to disc, but it would be really great to get the commentaries and some actual menus.

I was hoping to burn a copy for my Father for Christmas (He also owns the retail blu rays for all of the above) since he’s not very technically inclined.

If myspleen is the best way to get a copy, could someone send me an invite?

Thank you very much!

Edit: Thank you so much for the invite! You’ve helped make my Christmas!

I too have the Blueray Star Wars Trilogy (as well as every other format, including lasardisc Definitive Collection). I also have the Despecialized Editions downloaded but not at the resolution I would like and without the bonus material. I am seeking an invite to be able to obtain the higher quality downloads, bonus material, and DVD covers. If someone could provide me with this I would be eternally grateful. My goal would be to put together a nice set as close to the set Harmy’s friend put together for him.

God, I hope I wasn’t supposed to buy Family Guy before downloading this, because that’s not happening.

I have been a Star Wars fan since I was five years old and I’ve basically seen every North American version of the Original Trilogy. I saw the original theatrical versions on VHS, then the Special Editions. Even as a young child, I knew something was off about the Special Editions. I even own the most recent collection of Blu-Ray’s that Disney’s put out but every time I watched them, I could tell what was originally Star Wars and what wasn’t.
I found out about Despecialized about 6 months ago, and I’ve watched the MKV files many, many times since my discovery, and I’ve always wanted to own these fantastic (and vastly superior) versions on Blu-Ray. I just stumbled across this thread and I immediately fell in love. If at all possible, may I please have an invite? I’d love to get the 50GB downloads, they look absolutely amazing and I’d love to have everything on one disc instead of two.

P.S. Thank you so much to Harmy, NJVC, and everyone for their great work on everything Despecialized. This community is so great and everyone works together so well.

So I found out my step dad would like the Star Wars movies for Christmas, and I remembered reading about the Despecialized editions. That soon brought me to this topic. These would be the perfect gift for him, but how do I get them?

Buy (him) the blu-ray and obtain a MySpleen invite.

Hello,

May I have an invite as well? I am really interested in these BD sets.

Last year my daughters must have gotten bitten by the SW bug from the TFA promos so they were excited to see “all those Star Wars movies”

When the dvd’s and subsequent special editions were released I didn’t bite.

But now with the girls, my wife decided to get them via iTunes. I knew the iTunes versions were bastardized and gave her grief for spending $70 on the 6 movies. So I decided to find the old VHS of ep IV V VI and have them watch those, well the VHS player doesn’t work.

That’s when I found out about Harmy’s (et al) despecialized versions. So I downloaded those (2.5,2.0,1.0) and we watched machete order and then saw TFA at the smithsonian IMAX.

So now a year later I’m checking in and see updates to all 3 movies and would like to request an invite to spleen so I can grab these BD sets and check out the new edits.

Thanks!

Has anyone made a version of the iso with the '81 “A New Hope” crawl version of Star Wars? i much prefer that version(i think it’s just despecialized 2.6 but with that change), but the iso here looks like the version with no “a new hope”

Well the first part is easy enough. Not sure where to get the invite from.
