I haven’t been especially looking forward to this one, as I usually find the Mandalorians to be pretty boring. Hopefully it will surprise me.

Well, I really liked the TCW episodes on them. The problem I have with the Mandos in Rebels is that the episodes on them so few and far between, it’s hard to really get a grasp on what’s going on with them. So I don’t know, if you find Mandalorian politics boring then don’t worry, cause that aspect is pretty much glossed over here so we can get straight to the action.

The whole proud warrior culture thing just doesn’t do it for me. The only thing I found compelling about the Mandalore stuff in TCW was the Satine/Kenobi romance, and with neither of those characters in the mix on Rebels I just don’t feel very invested. Bo-Katan was kind of cool too, I guess, and I’m assuming she’s in this episode because I saw headlines a while ago about Katee Sackhoff returning, so that’s neat. I absolutely despised everything to do with Pre Vizla, though, so I can do without more Death Watch fallout.

Really enjoyed this episode especially since I’m a sucker for all things Mandalorian in Star Wars. I hope one day we get a story that explores their warrior past.

Worst episode so far. Already a filler episode, things need to move now. As dumb as the Mandalorian TCW episodes, but without the visual qualities of TCW. The change of the showrunner is killing the show…

Man. I gotta give Dave huge props as usual.

When I heard they were coming to Rebels, I was super excited. I was really glad that they were mostly ignoring all the bullshit fanfiction crap Karen Traviss had written about them, but when I heard about the pacifist angle, I was disappointed but willing to hear them out.

The first few episodes with Satine and the pacifist Mandalorians did not fill me with hope, but by the end of series and the Mandalorian arc, I was totally blown away. Fantastic development for several big characters and Mandalore itself. Some of the best Star Wars ever written, I’d argue.

And now with Rebels, that’s all showing signs of continuing. I really dug the first episodes with Fenn Rau, and was glad to see him come back. He’s a cool guy, so it’ll be neat to see where they take him as the show progresses.

And Sabine I was also iffy on coming into the show, but after this episode she’s definitely a certified badass. It’s cool to see her coming into her own.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

I thought the episode was meh, but maybe now with some of the Mandalorians aligning with the Rebellion they may become more interesting for me. A big part of why I just can’t seem to care about them is that they feel kind of separate from everything else. It’s always Mandalorians quarreling with other Mandalorians for control of Mandalore, and as soon as our heroes leave their system it completely ceases to matter. If they become actual players in the galaxy, I might not find them so tiresome.

A filler episode is one where nothing happens that is important to the main plot. This episode was setup for Sabine’s character arc and the start of a new ally.

Is it ok if I talk about the events of the episode that just aired tonight?

Because the events seemed like a big deal to the Star Wars universe leading up to ANH (and potentially future spinoff films)

If you do, put it in double quotes like so;

spoilers

After watching ‘Visions and Voices’, it now exists in canon that Maul knows Obi Wan Kenobi lives and is on Tatooine. The two ‘known’ remaining Jedi also know that Obi Wan lives but only know that it is on a desert planet with two suns. They have made it their mission now to find Master Kenobi before Maul does to warn him. I can’t imagine that if they planned on having a Obi Wan Kenobi spin-off film, they wouldn’t have wanted to use this plot point (Maul vs Kenobi Part 2) in the film. With the third Star Wars spinoff not happening for years, this will either happen on Rebels or Maul will never reach his goal of finding Kenobi.

Sorry, I had to put that all in one paragraph to avoid spoilers.

I wonder how long until rebels leads into rogue one if it leads into rouge one?

In the Rebel Recon for tonight’s episode, they said that when they return on January 7th Rogue One will have been released and the parts of Rebels that you eventually see in the film or that tie in will begin to be talked about.

It’s total bullshit. There is no hint to whatsoever. It’s Star Wars, not Dallas.

To be clear:

  • Rey is Sabine’s daughter ? No hint;
  • Sabine is Obi-Wan’s dauther ? No hint.

There is a dark saber ? Yep, Maul was a former ruler of Mandalore, he kept an artifact as a souvenir (he basically says it !). Sabine picks up the dark saber ? Yep, she’s a mandalore, she knows what it is, that’s all ! Maul wants to find Obi-Wan ? No big deal: Ben is his oldest ennemy, he wants revenge, it wasalready the topic of the previous episode he appeared in.

Average episode, better than the previous Maul’s one; but the season stays very weak compared to the first one and even to the second one. It’s time they finish it.

edit: i’m talking about the last episode. Some say the so called “hints” will be contained in the january episode (Ghost of Geonosis II). I really hope not (Rey being a Kenobi would be such a bad idea).

Other than the universe shrinking aspect Rey being a Kenobi would be kind of cool and poetic. I definitely prefer it over her being another Skywalker.

Plus having Ben have a kid is the perfect excuse to abolish the whole “no attachments” nonsense.

I would prefer Rey, Snoke, Finn, Poe, etc. unrelated to any known character. The galaxy is wide, bring fresh blood. I don’t understand the buzz around Rey’s parents: I really don’t give a shit about her parents. Have we met Obi-Wan’s parents ? Yoda’s ? Han’s ? Chewie’s ?

That’s pretty reasonable

I don’t understand the buzz around Rey’s parents: I really don’t give a shit about her parents. Have we met Obi-Wan’s parents ? Yoda’s ? Han’s ? Chewie’s ?

The difference is that these characters weren’t abandoned on a desert planet as a child (or even older if had her mind wiped) and above all that’s why people want to know who they are. I think people want to know why they abandoned her and why they never came back. And Rey as a character deserves to know who they are. All of her suffering on Jakku would have been for nothing if she doesn’t find out who her parents are.

I have a much needed prescription for Mala:

Neither of the previous seasons of Rebels picked up until the second half. This will be no different.

With all of the different pieces the first half of this season setup the second is looking to be pretty spectacular.

They made it seem they’ve been holding back plot points as to not interfere w/ Rogue One.
