It’s there as an ISO. Negative1 threw a tantrum at one point and had the MKV deleted.

At one point?
😉

Which is also better than the MKV, since it fixed an error at the end of the film.
A 720p version of the ESB Renegade Grindhouse was uploaded to usenet by “MrNiceGuy” about 2 years ago. I’m interested in acquiring this as it fits on a DVD9.
If anyone has it, please could you confirm if it has the same glitches which were reported in the original “1080p BD25 mkv” release? (And how bad were these glitches anyway? I have only seen the ISO version.)
Bluto
Based only on memory, yes, it had the glitch.
It’s a graphical error with a bunch of noise/glitches in one of the final shots of the Falcon.
I found my copy of it on Usenet and used MKVToolNix GUI to convert it after extracting it.
Go to > BDMV > PLAYLIST, drag and drop the 00001.mpls Playlist file into MKVToolNix GUI then run it. The MKV will include the chapters for easy searching. The MKV will be 1 to 1 ratio so there will not be any loss in quality.
A question though… How does one get access to the spleen? Looks like we are not accepting invites at this time.
I got hold of the 720p mkv version of the Renegade Grindhouse in the end (from usenet). It doesn’t seem to have any glitches towards the end after all, which the original 1080p mkv file suffered from.
However, I can’t get it to fit on a dual layer DVD disc despite this version having “DVD9” in the filename. I know that it won’t fit if converted to AVCHD format (which needs more room than just a raw mkv file), but I am simply trying to burn the raw mkv and it already seems too big. The mkv file I have is 8,724,585,522 bytes and ImgBurn tells me the capacity of my Verbatim DVD+R DL discs is only 8,547,991,552 bytes. I believe a number of posters in this thread have succeeded; what’s the trick?!

I think they wanted to put the breaks on people signing up just for SW stuff with no interest in their “bread and butter” content.

back in the CD burning days, you could usually try to do an ‘overburn’ if it wasn’t too far over capacity. not sure if that would be a good idea for this. it has the possibility of ruining your dvd drive if you burn past the edge of the material on the disk.

Well that sucks… I really would like to see what they have to offer, however I can understand why they would want to keep people locked out if they are not willing to seed.
If anybody has an invite they can spare I would appreciate it.

Thanks, dahmage. I’m not going to chance it…
Burned the wmv of the v2 (DCP 2013) grindhouse to DVD9 instead. The colours are more vibrant than the v1 (renegade) print, but there is less detail to my eyes.

Not really true, CD-R’s had a generous amount of space in the lead-out area of the disc, and that space could instead be used for data by shortening the lead-out that gets burnt. It was space already on the disc - there’s no such space to be used on DVD-R or BD-R, the specs are much tighter.

Unless someone has posted the Grindhouse on another site, they are only currently on Myspleen and usenet.
Team Negative1
Hi! I try going on MySpleen but it keeps taking me to this login page and I don’t know how to create an account.
The standalone 1080p ISO file is available in the wild on some well-known trackers. The file size is 21.29 GB, and the ISO is bit for bit identical to the one on the spleen. You’ll just be missing a few extras (trailers and some cover art).

I am late to the party but can anyone tell me if v3.1 25gb B/D ISO ever came out…?
Where did you hear about v3.1?
Regarding the original TN1 Grindhouse, I am only aware of three releases:
(1) 1080p mkv, non-Bluray compatible and with some video glitches near the end.
(2) 1080p ISO, Bluray compatible, with no glitches. This supersedes (1), is widely available, and fits on a BD25 for playback on a standalone Bluray player.
(3) 720p mkv which has “DVD9” in the filename but is a tad too big to fit on such a disc…
There was a “version 2” of the Grindhouse which was based on a totally different print, and is known as the “DCP 2013”. This is in 1080p and bizarrely in wmv format, has more vibrant colours than the main Grindhouse, but to my eyes is less sharp. It took me a while to track down and seems only to be available on Usenet as far as I know.
More recently, Dreamaster released a single pass colour-corrected version of the original Grindhouse. This is in mkv format and in 1080p.

Here is the current plan for the release of Empire Strikes Back - Sanitized.
1 Just to get the ball rolling, a first 25 G mkv file, which will be a bare release 3.0
for those that just want to get it first, and play it their computers:
- English 35mm audio (not restored)
- 1080p video h.264 encoding
2 After that a slightly improved version 3.1 - 25 G BD ISO, which is for people that
would like to burn it to a disc, and watch it on TV, or projectors:
- Basic menu
- English 35 audio
- 1080p video h.264
- Possible color correction on a few scenes
===============================================================
We really don’t have time to polish it any more currently or
add the usual features. We would like the community to help in releasing these :
1 Subtitles (English, and others)
2 Make it GOUT compatible
2a Include Different mixes
3 Once GOUT compatible
3a Include different audio languages4 Optional - Color correction on certain scenes
If you work on any of these, please post them here, and we will credit
you once done, and package those along with it.At this point, there will be slight differences from the previous
Grindhouse version, so those files from that can probably be
further improved to be compatible with this release.
As stated, this was never meant to be a full blown restoration,
but a version to hold people over, until a more complete one can
be done. There will still be some minor issues in it, but you can see from the
previews the amount of cleanup that has been done. It will be a much
more enjoyable version for those that want to sit back and have a bit
more of a polished version, visually.Team Negative1
Hey Bluto thanks for the reply I got it from this post by Team Negative 1 (After that a slightly improved version 3.1 - 25 G BD ISO)…
TN1 sort of imploded, so who really knows what’s going on there. I know that there are plans to release a recolored and cleaned up version of the Grindhouse soon, so keep an eye out for that.

Will do, and I was going to ask whatever happened to team negative 1 it from the post’s I have read it seemed to go sour with the release of ESB…? Did something happen.?

Nothing happened to the members of the team, but some members of this community made some (false) accusations against them and their account here was banned.

Damn… did they get there account reinstated once the accusations were proven false… are they still operating elsewhere…?
The account was not banned because of the accusations (putting aside whether they were true or not), but because it was a team account that was being used in conflict with the rules. A rule was put in place that the team account could only post about the team projects, but Negative1 kept using it to post about unrelated things in unrelated threads.

Well in any case, the account was banned which is why you don’t see any more posts from the team.
