Where can one find either or both of these? I own the blu-ray and am wanting to experiment with preservation. Feel free to PM if needed.

I apologize if this in the wrong forum and thank you to anyone who might help in advanced.

I haven’t heard of any Lion King laserdisc rips being done. As for the DVD, one can purchase them used on eBay for fairly cheap so maybe you could start there.

I know you can find a laserdisc rip on Rutracker.

I found two there.
Search: lion king ldrip (which is an xvid avi)
-and-
lion king laser (which is a laserdisc transfer to dvd5)

I knew about the dvd5, but not of the xvid. Speaking of, I remember watching a Youtube video basically comparing the laserdisc to the Blu-ray, but I can’t find it anymore. Probably because of copyright reasons.

In other news, I found this:

If you’re ripping the DVD keep in minute bot the theatrical version, it has morning report added and some animation changes like the crocodiles in can’t wait to be king, I think all current copies actually are based on the IMAX print

There’s also an MKV which appears to be identical quality to the DVD5 version and, unlike the DVD5, is anamorphic. I’d take that over the xvid avi.

Think Akai ripped a CAV recently, he’s got better equipment than I did.
