That looks beautiful, even without some corrections. With some clean-up and color correction, this could look wonderful… not that it already doesn’t!

While I havn’t watched any of the sample vids, that cleaned up image of Leia looks great!
I would definitely consider donating to a cause as worthy as this one.

When a raw version is eventually released I hope some of the old veterans are

Ok, that went of the rails fast.
I have had over 200 emails and a bunch of PMs of people asking for access, and the emails are increasing. My guess is someone has shared my paypal email address around a bit saying email this guy and you can get the files, or I just under-estimated the number of people following the thread.

For the short term I am going to have to change tack a bit, I will be limiting access to WIP files to anyone whose email I can verify against my paypal address, I don’t really want open access to this stuff from people outside of OT.com at this stage, and the numbers are too big for me to handle, I don’t have the time to manage it all for those kind of numbers.

Also, if you don’t have a use for the files, i.e. you are not contributing to the discussion or a cleanup effort or a project of your own, then the files won’t be of much use to you anyway, just follow along in the thread 😃

Short samples and images will continue to be posted here as each reel gets done. The files are really intended for people with a solid interest in feedback or that are working on their own thing, and are going to be too large and unfinished to be of much use for just watching the movie.

For people with access, nothing will appear until the third reel is back next week. We have raised enough for half the movie to be done, I’m so grateful, only half to go!
Thanks again for everyone for enabling this to happen, I’m hopeful we will also be able to get the German print done, we will certainly need frames from both films to make a complete set.

If you are interested in experimenting with cleanup, then have at this! The 2nd part has the end of reel1, and the beginnings and ends of the reels are always in the worst shape, so it will be a good segment to work on.

I proposed a ‘community cleanup’ operation in the past, and I think we can put the tech together to manage it, I’ll start a new thread on that, as I think it would be a great way for everyone to get involved.

Also, I accidentally sent Reel4 instead of Reel3 for cleaning, so Reel4 will be the next one to appear 😃

Yeah I have nothing to add which is why I haven’t asked to see that stuff. I made mirrors of the 1080p reel samples poita posted here, and anyone is free to PM me for access to that (a small number of people already did).

No problem guys, I’m working my way through the pile. It is great there is so much interest, though if everyone who asked for access had chucked in a fiver, then we’d have had enough to get both the DE and the UK print cleaned 😄

I’ll get access sorted, but there won’t be any files up until the next reel comes back, so to everyone asking ‘why can’t I see any files yet’, it is because there aren’t any files up yet 😃 And even then, it will be sporadic segments and WIP stuff, nothing that exciting.
Anyone expecting to sign up and find a full download of the movie or something is going to be disappointed.

I thought I sent Reel4 out, but it was in fact Reel3, I had them labelled incorrectly, so R3 is happening and we are close to having enough for a 4th reel to be done.

The reels are being uploaded to Harmy as they are completed for him to use in his next Despecialised version, so hopefully they will be put to good use.

Yes! These will be absolutely excellent for Despecialized. I might still need to use the Grindhouse here and there in v2.5, depending on how fast Poita can get the rest of the reels (and the other print for damage replacement) scanned but what I have now should already cover most of the most problematic parts of Grindhouse.

So it’s the UK print being scanned at the moment, and then later the DE print is that right?

If there is a particular reel order you would prefer for reels 4/5/6, let me know and I will get them done in that order.

The response has been great so far, we have nearly enough to do the next reel, then there are only two to go.

I can do the German print without having it cleaned if there are any scenes you identify Harmy as needed, it might be better to have them ‘dirty’ than wait for cleaning as I’m not sure we will end up being able to afford getting the DE print cleaned as well.

Yes, the funds are for cleaning the UK print, as it has way less fade. If we get that done and there are funds left over, I will get the DE print cleaned as well.

Unfortunately it turns out that Reel2 (at least) of the UK print has mould damage, which isn’t clear until you get it cleaned, and unfortunately there is no way to remove all the mould safely, (it is showing up as red flashes on some frames) so we will need to replace some of those scenes with ones from the DE print.

In the short term I will scan the DE print without cleaning it so that we can get the replacement frames for Harmy, with the hope that we can get the DE print done properly down the track.
There is another SW IB Tech awaiting cleaning as well, and other Jedi LPP, so there is a bit of a backlog.

Definitely not the same print, I’m not sure if they had mould problems or not.
If you are referring to the red down the right hand side on the grindhouse, I think that is a combination of a problem with their scanner, and the print just being faded down one side more than the other, but I haven’t really watched it, so couldn’t be sure.
