what did i do wrong i know i wasn't asking anyone to make any fanedit this time just better links to a currant fanedit. now it just seems like people want to be critical of me now for the little things too. i understand about the other things but the little nothing things give me a break.

Click on the link I posted, read the thread, request an invite.  That's how it's done.  Not, someone send me the link, because you have to be a member there to even use the download link.

That's all I'm saying.  You have to give a little if you want a little ya know.

I think there is a problem with this disc.

I'm using makemKV to losslessly extract the film to .mkv to play on my external media player, but I'm getting an error during extraction:

"The source file '/BDMV/STREAM/00001.m2ts' is corrupt or invalid at offset 2391048192, attempting to work around"

There must be an error at that segment of the file. Can anybody check into this if possible?

Dunno... even if the BD-R could be not compatible with every standalone player, the file itself works perfectly... maybe the file is broken...

Does anyone know how or where to get this now? I’ve asked the OP but they no longer have it.

It’s still reasonably well-seeded on MySpleen. I can chip in too if I know you’re heading that way!

I’ve just begun the DL over on the Spleen, and will leave this up on my seedbox for the foreseeable future. It will live on!

Of course! I’ve recently discovered a huge love for all things John Carpenter, and I watched this movie for the first time on Halloween this year (fitting, I know) by way of the 35th anniversary BD. I’m happy to say my next viewing will be your version. 😃 I’m also stoked about The Thing.

That’s great. Don’t forget to take a look at The Thing thread on fanres - I post more often there, and you will find a test clip… waiting to know your opinion!

Hi guys

Was just wondering if the colour grading debate has been settled? I recently read a review of Halloween from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette from November 1978 which stated “Visually, its quite well done, with moody autumnal photography”

The BD certainly doesn’t fit that description.

Re-working on this right now… revised version hopefully will be even closer, color wise, to the THX DVD, and I hope to remove all the residual artefacts.

Looking forward to this Andrea… I believe you can strike a balance with the colors that would satisfy long time fans of the THX. Thank you.

Finished right now to encode it with the newest settings.
Colors… WOW! They are, like, 99% the same in 99% of the shots… except few ones - like the one you posted few posts (and many months) before. That’s because the DVD and BD have different framing.

Now I’m going to watch the whole movie, to spot these shots. Solutions? Leave them untouched, with very good colors in all the shot except small parts (Donald’s forehead, for example), or use another color matching script, with colors less closer to the DVD, and much closer to BD… in this case, no problems, but, for example, if there are similar shots before or after the replaced one, you would note different colors…

Well, meanwhile I watch the movie, think about a possible solution - even different from this! 😄

Just finished to watch the movie, and guess what? It’s almost perfect, apart that shot! 😄
Found a perfect solution, now I must encode it lossless, but all my HDD are full, so I have to wait until I could afford a new HDD… 😕

Why did you call it “Halloween (1978 Fundamental Collection [#006] [BD-25]”?

I do like it better than “[spoRv]” though.

Had bad connection lately, so I was forced to use a friend’s one - you noted it, right? 😉

Well, from now on, my projects will be released under a new “label” - agree that it’s nice and more appealing than the old one… and it was time to change something!

The 35th anniversary edition in the box set (aka different from the retail one) has the real uncompressed mono (and not a downmix) …

Interesting! I wonder if it’s the same of the Criterion one included in this release.

I wanted to say thank you for your projects and work on the Fundamental Collection. I have been enjoying them quite a bit. Just a heads up on the English subtitles, the first 3 times Laurie’s name appears, it is spelled “Laufie”, after that, her name is spelled correctly. Later in the film when Laurie goes across the street looking for her friends, she calls out “Linda” which in the subtitle is spelled “Lvnua”. Thanks and keep up the good work!
