Yub Nub is atrocious. It’s bad for the same reasons Jedi Rocks is bad. The new song is much, much better.

But he looks nothing like the Return version. Its inclusion implies he looked for 20 years like he did in Revenge then changed completely in 3 years.

RotJ takes place 2 weeks to 6 months after ESB. So it’s even worse.

Ten years passed and still prequel trilogy is ignored or considered irrelevant by fans.

Well, they get hate from fans because they’re bad movies, and they’re considered irrelevant because they’re not as culturally iconic as the OT.

“Victory Celebration” may be a better musical piece than “Yub Nub”, but it syncs as well with the on-screen action as “Turbo Lover” does.

What happened to respecting everyone’s opinions? Laughing doesn’t seem very respectful.

I didn’t say you have to respect everyone’s opinions. I said you don’t have to be a sarcastic jackass about it. In the thread I said that to you, the guy you were responding to simply said that he liked ROTJ as much as the other movies and you responded in a sarcastic jackass manner, as you always do. He didn’t say anything to disparage you or your opinions. His opinion was expressed politely and it was a positive, not negative, opinion. He didn’t deserve your bullshit. This guy on the other hand went on the attack by saying something was “atrocious,” so if you ask me he opened himself up for my dismissal, which was still less dickish than yours.

Look, I know you think you’re some kind of comic genius or something, but you’re actually just another asshole on the internet. You’re maybe 1% as funny as you think you are. If you toned it down a notch and used your “wit” sparingly, instead of literally every post you make, that would be fine. Instead you feel the need to demonstrate how “clever” you are at all times, which gets extremely old extremely quickly. And I can only imagine how many people it has driven away from this site, because it confirms the impression that it’s dominated by the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons.

Sometimes I consider Frink a jackass. Sometimes he genuinely makes me laugh.

I think the SE Emperor Palpatine hologram in ESB was way better than the original. And frankly, I think a lot of the CGI for space battles was an improvement. Really the biggest issue I have with the SE is the color balance.

I was just thinking about this today after watching despecialized Star Wars today.

Some changes I’m okay with. The part where they make the x wings in Star Wars look awesome and not like models that (mostly) work? Yah I’ll take that. You want to put more graphics in the background on Bespin? Fine. You want to clean up the Rancor so the optical seam isn’t quite so obvious? Good deal!

But here’s what I can’t stand - don’t change the story, don’t change any dialogue, don’t change a single beat of the movie. Han shoots first. Vader in clear irritation mutters “Bring my shuttle” through gritted teeth. Vader picks up the emperor WITHOUT SAYING A DAMN THING and throws him down the shaft. These are the things I won’t accept and ruin my childhood.

What about: Don’t change the movies at all!

I certainly understand that point of view but for a Science Fiction film, certain scenes in the movie look really bad 40 years on. When the X-Wings split their S-foils approaching the Death Star in Star Wars, it looks almost comical.

Also, you can’t deny that you get chills when Wedge flies THROUGH the exploding TIE Fighter as he rescues Luke. That part doesn’t play nearly as well in the theatrical version.

Really? I absolutely LOVE the shot in the original version and was really mad that they changed it.

I like the idea of the Jabba scene in A New Hope. I don’t think it detracts too much from the rest of the film, and it adds a little backstory to Han and Chewie. However, I’m glad it wasn’t included in the 1977 release. With the limited technology of the time, Jabba could have turned out looking a whole lot worse than what we saw in 1997 (shudder), and a silly-looking Jabba could have made the movie look like a stupid, low-budget, science fiction exploitation movie.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

I think the idea is fine, but I also think it detracts from his appearance in ROTJ and adds absolutely nothing to the narrative of ANH. We don’t need the Jabba scene to know Han is in hot water, and it just makes Jabba look like “that fat slug that got stepped on” when you see him again in ROTJ.
Obviously we don’t see Jabba as the aforementioned, but to someone watching it in chronological order for the first time it’d cheapen his character and reveal. His small cameo in TPM isn’t necessary, but at least he doesn’t let someone he put a bounty on stomp on his tail.
It’s alright as a bonus deleted scene or something, but not an actual addition to the finished product.

But, y’know, that’s just my opinion.
