Do you hate ROTS emperor?

As for the emperor being my favourite star wars villain, I think I should ask if you like or hate rots palatine over rotj.

When’s something gonna happen?

What kind of hate are you talking about here? Hatred because he’s a villain and we’re supposed to hate him, or hate him on a technical level (acting, writing etc.)?

I like RotS Palpatine, but only because he’s over-the-top and silly. I find myself quoting him very often.

“Do it.”

“I am the senate.”

“Are you threatening me, master Jedi?”

“It’s treason then.”

“Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plageuis the Wise?”

“Help me Anakin, don’t let him kill meeee!”

I 'ate him. I 'ate his little face, I 'ate his guts, and I 'ate the way he’s always barking. I also 'ate the mess he left on the rug.

No. I mean his appearance.

That information would have been helpful in the first post.

I think the makeup is kind of cheesy and plasticy, but it makes sense he would look different than in Jedi, considering that the scars are fresh in Sith but ~30 years old in Jedi. However, I think the notion that his appearance in Jedi necessitated a catastrophic injury is moronic, especially considering the wound was self-inflicted in Sith. Why couldn’t he just be really fucking old? It is a galaxy far far away. Maybe he was 170 or something. They could have just made McDiarmid look a little older than he actually was in the prequels.

I agree with Jeebus.

As for his appearance, I don’t care. I don’t care about the prequels anymore, I don’t have the energy left in me to “hate” anything about them. They exist, they suck, the end.

His appearance is fine but the ROTJ makeup is far superior.

I agree. He looked way realistic.

I pretty much agree with CHEWBAKAspelledwrong. I just wish that they didn’t half-ass the Emperor change in Empire Strikes Back and use the ROTS makeup when it’s clearly different from ROTJ. Admittedly the change never needed to be made, but if they had to do it they should have gone all the way.

I hate what they did to him: they turned him into a silly clown 😄
If you think about it, even in ROTJ he is kind of silly, like when he does his usual evil laugh, but it was much more subtle: for example, we could hear him laugh, but they never actually showed him laughing on camera like they did in ROTS (except maybe once when Luke cuts off Vader’s hand, but just for a moment).

P.S.: 😄 In the Italian version Palpatine is extra funny because he sounds like Gollum when he says “I’m too weak!” (he’s in fact dubbed by Gollum’s voice actor 😄 )

But you asked us all how we felt about the prequels. You made at least one thread about it. When we replied, suddenly we are brainless haters?

His makeup/prosthetics are subpar, but I don’t lose sleep over it. My main problem with the Emperor in ROTS is that he’s given some of the absolute worst lines in the entire saga. In the fan edits I’ve seen where they expunge a lot of those awful lines, he’s one of the bright spots of the movie.
