IPod Contents...character-revealing?

Boy, am I ever bored...

Yesterday, a story in one of the New York papers (think it was the Times) had an article about "character traits revealed" by the playlists of an IPod President Bush was given by his daughters.

I didn't actually read the article, I only heard about it.
Regardless, think that its possible? Can you read a person's character by the contents of their IPod (Or, perhaps I should say, their taste in music...I don't own an IPod)?

I doubt it, my MP3 playlists have everything from Guns and Roses and Van Halen to Tchaikovsky and Mozart to Ayumi Hamasaki.

Here's a small part of an article I found:
The president has owned the personal accessory of the moment for some time, said Johndroe. He's loaded his iPod with his favorite country singers: George Jones, Kenny Chesney and Alan Jackson. He also listens to Aaron Neville, Creedence [Clearwater Revival] and Van Morrison.

The article I heard about seemed to make certain implications about the president because nothing on the IPod is younger than 25 years and nothing is by a black or latin artist.

I'm sure they just say that he listens to "his favorite country singers" on his iPod, you know he has got that thing loaded up with Metallica and Bon Jovi

Somehow I think not. They serioulsy destroyed their career that way. Then again, Bush is probably man enough to not hold it against them.

Actually, as far as the oldies argument goes, Bush actually had some tracks on his iPod by Blackie & the Rodeo Kings, a notoriously 'lefty' band, but since Bush's playlist is handled by his personal assistant, I wouldn't read too much into it.

What does that prove except that fans respect the President and don't like him maligned in a foreign America-hater convention?

Besides. Look at Greenday's American Idiot. It is one of the most popular songs this decade.

I don't think you can tell much about a person from their playlist on larger iPods. On those, you can fit so much that you can include a bunch of stuff you wouldn't otherwise include simply because you have the room. My iPod has it all. Every single genre of music is represented in some way, shape, or form.

On smaller iPods like the Shuffle or the Mini, I think it might be a bit more telling because you have to be more selective about what is included. But this is just a theory as well.

Maybe the music tones one has on their cellphone is more telling since you can only hold so many and there's no way to get around paying for them.

I think the problem is that yes an "artist" is free to have their opinion, however I also think they have access to a forum to ram it down people's throats that the "average joe" doesn't have access to. They have the ability to hit and run. On the flip side, we can steamroll their records, call the radio stations and gripe/ask them not to play their stuff, protest outside their concerts, etc; Many people here are tired of "celebrities" who can barely run their own lives telling us how to live ours (don't drive SUVs...get out of my way I've got to hop on my private jet, corporate America is evil because it makes money...I live in a Beverly Hills mansion). Nice imagery with Torquie, there...next thing someone will bring up the "Red Scare".

Vermont is right. And he is now the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

Ric, you might know him as the "screamer" who was shouting all the states that his campaign was going to win in the primary last year. The shouting episode turned off more than a few voters and he went from the party frontrunner to last place in a very short time. If he had just shut up, he may have been in the actual presidential election.
