How can they axe Cyclops when...yanno...its the Dark Phoenix saga...yanno...Cyclops -is- virtually married to Jean Grey here. Sometimes, them people don't make any sense. If anything, Cyke should get an increased role now.

Piece of junk.

Anyway, maybe the new Spiderman villain will be Sandman...and Green Goblin Jr. (Who I'd be willing to bet becomes Hobgoblin.)

I've never understood the relationship between the Green and Hob goblins...

Why does Harry change from Green to hob? I know I've seen them together in the cartoon, but Norman is dead... Did he not die in the cartoon because US cartoons don't do death, or something?

There were a lot of things wrong with the Spider-Man cartoon.

Logically Cyclops should get more screen time, since the end of X2 seemed to imply that the Phoenix sagas, both Light & Dark, were up next. The problem is that Wolverine still ranks as the favorite of many X-fans, so I wouldn't be surprised if the writers some how tried to retool it to put Wolvie in Cyke's place.

And don't forget, Hollywood gave us 2004's "Catwoman".

I've always been a vocal supporter of brute force, so more Colossus is a good thing.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

HSvIJ, while the spidey cartoon didnt follow the comic exactly it did do a fairly good job (from what ive read about the actual spidey comics, havent actually read the comics but a good deal of info is available at http://www.spiderfan.org/ ) in keeping the characters origins correct, it did swap hob goblin's appearence with green (green appeared first). There were also multiple greens (4) and also multiple hob goblins (also 4 according to spiderfan.org) you can read about the various origins of the characters at that site. Actually as far as timeline it might have been more online than the movie, especially in dealing with Peter and MJ's relationship.

chaltab, harry never changed from the green goblin to the hobgoblin. and in the cartoon Norman never actually died but he dissapeared in a time/space vortex (same one that took MJ) and only showed up after that as a voice in harry's head.

more on topic though, i hope they dont do Green Goblin II or even the Hob Goblin as the villian in the next movie because i think it will end up being too similar to the first story. If they are going to do venom, which in my opinion would be a good story, they should have done more character development with Eddie Brock in the second movie to establish his hatred of peter/spider-man because to do the venom saga properly i dont think 2 hours will be enough time. They have been throwing mention of Doctor Conners so maybe we'll get to see the lizard, that could make a good story as well. I dont know why they are making such a big deal out of keeping the next bad guy a secret, if they werent so concerned with that they could have worked more backstory/character development of the next villian into the previous movie which would allow for them to already have the villians motives for hating spider man so much established.

as far as xmen, if they do the Phoenix sagas (which it very much seems they are going to do) I hope they dont try to compress both into one movie because that will be too much for one movie. Only way it would work is to not actually have Jean go totally evil and just make it an internal struggle with her new found powers. As far as putting wolverine into cyclops' place i sure hope they dont do anything that stupid, it would be way to far off the continuity, also its was established in the second one that Jean's choice was Cyclops not Wolverine.

Church To Play Venom in 'Spider-Man 3'?
Sideways star Thomas Haden Church's villainous alter-ego in the new Spider-Man movie has been revealed, if internet gossip is to be believed. The Oscar nominee will play Venom in Spider-Man 3 in 2007, according to the Pressconnects.Com website. Venom won't be the only Spider-Man arch-enemy in the second sequel - Daniel Gillies' John Jameson character will become Manwolf in the film, according to the reports.

Please... not two villains. We saw what that did to subsequent Batman movies. I like just having one villain in the Spider-Man movies at a time.

But the first Batman, which was the best IMO, still wasn't all that great to begin with.

But, like you said, it was the best of the bunch. I am looking forward to this new one coming this summer despite it having two villains.

Regretfully that will probably happen, right after Spidey 3. My guess is Raimi will move on to other pastures, most of the cast will jump with him, the studio will wait a couple of years and then find the *all-new* Spider-man. Could be good, could be bad- but it'll never be the same....

maybe Joel Schumacher will get involved!

Dr. Conners is already established. Dylan Baker. (Thanks IMDB)

He hasn't been mentioned...so I'd be willing to bet that Lizard doesn't come around quite yet.

As big of a Superman fan I am, I don't like how Bryan Singer basically walked away from the X-Men franchise to do the new Superman film which has been in limbo for almost a decade. Director changes never bode well for franchises, particularly superhero ones.

As for Spider-Man, I agree that another Spidey vs. Goblin would just be repetitive. Not to mention if and when Harry becomes a Goblin the costume must undergo some SERIOUS changes, as the first suit was RIDICULOUS. Raimi recently said he might be up for a 4th film after all, so maybe that's when the Peter/Harry thing will be resolved, with Spider-Man facing off against a couple of lesser villians (the Lizard and Sandman?) in 3.

Not if it dosen't last too long.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

The only show I can think of that never jumped the shark was Police Squad(maybe because it only lasted six episodes)

Frank Langella Tapped as Superman's Boss

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Actor Frank Langella, who once chilled moviegoers as Count Dracula, has stepped into the role of Superman's boss, Perry White, in Bryan Singer's upcoming comic book adventure "Superman Returns" for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Hugh Laurie originally was cast in the role but bowed out because of a scheduling conflict with the Fox television series on which he stars, "House."

The medical drama, on which Singer is executive producer, has proved a surprise hit and was just picked up for a second season. Laurie had not yet shot any scenes on the movie, which began production March 21 in Australia.

In the Superman canon, White is the editor of the Daily Planet, the newspaper where the Man of Steel's alter ego, Clark Kent, works as a mild-mannered reporter.

In Singer's version, White has a son named Richard, played by James Marsden, who is Lois Lane's love interest.

Langella played Count Dracula in Universal Pictures' 1979 "Dracula." His other credits include TV's "Unscripted" and the features "Sweet November" and the upcoming "House of D."

'Transformers' on Michael Bay's Radar

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Michael Bay is in talks to direct the DreamWorks/Paramount live-action adaptation of "The Transformers," Hasbro's popular 1980s toy line of giant robots that morph into cars, trucks, planes, ships and other technological creations.

The move would reteam the director with DreamWorks, which is handling domestic distribution on the movie. Bay is helming DreamWorks' upcoming summer release "The Island," a co-production with Warner Bros. Pictures.

Bay also would reunite with writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who, under their two-year, first-look deal with DreamWorks, rewrote "Island" and wrote "Transformers."

The Transformers are divided into two groups of robots, one led by Optimus Prime, which believes in tolerance and the sanctity of life, the other by Megatron, which espouses survival of the fittest and the extermination of biological life.

A Nov. 17, 2006, release date has been set. Bay's credits include the two "Bad Boys" movies, "Pearl Harbor," "Armageddon" and "The Rock."

More news on the super hero flick front...

Vinnie Jones (of Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels fame) may be Juggernaut in the next X-Men flick. Cool.

is this section only about SUPERHERO comic book adaptations?

I only ask because as far as i could tell from reading as many of the posts as i could that noone mentioned the amazing adaptations that Hollywood has managed to produce in the last few years:

The Road To Perdition
American Splendour
Ghost World

ok there's only 3...but....these 3 alone are worth a billion Daredevils.....infinite Elektra's........IMO

IMO the problem with Superhero adaptations will continue to be lacklustre whilst studio's & their unimaginative Exec's believe that they can rape a dollar out of you...that's why you always get a big name attached to these pieces of shit...nothing at all to do with "so & so has read such and such since he was 5" no he got paid x millions to do it....nuff said & why Akiva Goldsman still manages to exert some creative control (either as Exec-Producer or script writer) on some of these movies...after basically rewriting the script for Batman Forever & calling B&R & then going on to write & direct Lost in Space you would have thought this guys days would be numbered???? Well i would have.....but then who am i???

A comic fan with an infinite number of more imaginative idea's than most of those studio bozo's...why?because I'm not faced with need for green....dollar bills....

Wasn't a big Ghost World fan, but I did like American Splendor and The Road to Perdition. Good stuff. And I don't see why they can't be mentioned here. The title is only "Comic book movies" not "Superhero comic book movies." Just gravitated that way.
