I’ll be mailing out CD’s on Thursday or Friday. Anybody want to be added to the list? PM me.

Also, the song that I previously shared, “These Walls”, ended up being the last song I ever recorded under the influence of alcohol. I think the tone of the song is quite telling of the pain I was in. I love the result though, the bad place that I was in came out in my playing and it helps with this particular song. It’s not on this CD I’m sending out though yet, it’ll be on the next one that’ll come out sometime in 17.

Can’t wait to hear what you come up with after going through detox. There’s a lot to tap into there creatively, I imagine.

Well it’ll be a while before I do anything I had"come up with" after detox because I literally already had the next two albums planned out so I may record them sober but they already had been planned while drinking.

The CD I’m releasing now was recorded mostly around early 2016 and thus was made entirely under the influence. The next CD which will come out in 17 will have about half the sessions recorded sober and half drunk, won’t reveal what’s what just because that would be too much work lol. But entirely planned under the influence. The next CD after that (probably late 17 or early 18) will be the first recorded entirely sober, as well as most of the tracklist picked sober, but the concept/tone was planned out already. Same with the album after that.

Of course if I run across a song in the meantime that particularly inspires me and I feel it would fit on the album I’m recording now I’ll make it happen.

I haven’t been following many threads lately, but I’m glad to hear you did that, Possessed! Have you quit drinking altogether, or have you just toned it down?

I have quit altogether. They did blood work on me and told me that I was literally less than a year away from dying if I did not stop. I’m winding down from day 22 of not having a drink.

I’m still really good friends with Mary though ;P.

Yikes, I’m sure glad you quit when you did!

Me too, although more than a small part of me wishes I could have kept going and ignorantly drank myself to death.

A few years down the road, I’m sure you’ll be glad that didn’t happen.

Was having problems with my new printer so couldn’t get new copies of my latest CD (Not yet on soundcloud save for a few preview tracks) made until today. With that said, RicOlie_2’s is finally on it’s way. (Hope you haven’t moved since our last conversation!!)

Anybody else want one?

Took a listen and liked what I heard!

I’d be happy to mail you a cd (or any of my previous ones). Although, as Ric can attest to I am a bit slow about it lol. But I’m getting better.

Sounds great, thanks! As soon as I finish my move I’ll be in contact. 😃

Sounds good! I put a lot of work into making good cohesive albums with a consistent tone and vibe without being repetitive.

They have good sound quality too, even on larger systems… Only thing is on the first three you might wanna back off the treble a bit. I went a little crazy on the high end back then. I’d remaster/possibly remix them with the set up I have now but that would be alot of work to send out all those cds to everybody especially since most people are probably happy with how they sound already except me. Lol

Here’s something new. Well I made it 6 months ago or so but just now sharing. It’s from an album I haven’t finished yet. As always, the previous 4 are still available. I haven’t really heard back much about my newest one from the people I’ve given it too, but what little bit I have heard was positive. My second-newest one was pretty well received and might even have an small article written about it locally.

My sound quality is really coming together I think.

Woah man, nice work. Definitely like the sound you’ve developed.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I’ve put my fifth album temporarily on hold while I work on this other project. Somebody in the emulator scene developed what’s called an MSU-1 chip. Basically it’s a tool that lets you replace the less-than-midi quality music in SNES games with pcm wav files. (It is an actual chip as from what I understand it is possible to do this on an actual snes with a specifically modified cartridge. I just use a patched snes9x so I can play the games on a big screen without pixelation) My sound has always been highly influenced by the soundtracks for the Mega Man X games for the SNES. (I’ve even covered side of them) They have a unique blend of metal, techpop, symphony, and excellent energetic-yet-somehow-sombre songwriting that was a hide influence on me and I’ve never heard it anywhere else. The closest I’ve heard is the Finnish Melodic Death Metal scene, probably why I like it so much, bit even it has a different vibe.

Anyway, upon discovering this, I decided I had to cover the entire soundtracks for all 3 games and insert them into the games to pay homage. I’m almost done with the first game, and will release it soon. I will release it as a standalone music pack with a readme with instructions on patching your ROM to play these. (Now that there’s a patched SNES9X available that supports this it’s quite easy)

Here’s a track from it. It’s not a particularly iconic track, but it’s the one I did today. Besides, wouldn’t want to give away the big reveals before the pack comes out!

For those interested, my fourth album is now finally fully available on soundcloud. https://soundcloud.com/jacob-martin-28/sets/nightfall

Ric can perhaps vouch that it doesn’t completely suck, lol. If you liked The Way you should like it.

Anybody that wants a hard copy, or a high quality digital copy feel free to let me know.

Haha, I’ve only listened to the whole thing once due to the general business of life, but I did in fact enjoy it quite a bit. 😃
