Hey guys, first post here. I discovered that we had the 2004 DVD set in my house, so I started watching them a few nights ago...my first reaction was "Wow....this is a lot more of a sore thumb than it seemed to be in '97(when I was in my mid-teens). The next thought was "Oh my god, its getting worse. The Star Wars trilogy has been brutally assaulted and left screaming for help, unheeded, in a dark midtown alley".

I figured there MUST be a community like this somewhere, so I found you! Hooray! I'm currently down-torrenting the TR47's, so Im pleased, but this project has piqued my interest too...I found the prequels to be OK, but with so much squandered potential. But, I've read this thread over and I'm still confused. I cant tell what the magnolia project really is: A skillful editing, or a re-visioning? I hear about subtitles and alien languages, have all or some of the parts been redubbed/rewritten? I'm cornfused, and I'd like to know a little more before I go strangling bandwidth for copies....

Can someone give me the executive summary of these versions? Just what should i be expecting if I go looking for these?

(BTW, A huge THANK YOU to everyone who is doing something in this arena. If only I had three brains and 10 arms, I'd be doing stuff like this too, but sadly we can only pick a couple things in life to sink craploads of time into, and video editing lost its spot to audio work long ago in my life).
