A geek and a MP fan like me listening to that, is like when Flanders knew the Simpsons kids weren't baptized.

Didn't I already say that I've never seen a Monty Python movie? I remember doing so in another thread in, in the past.

Unfortunately, the teacher did not enjoy the poem and hit him over the head with a textbook (back when you were still allowed to do that without getting sued).

Oh my gosh! The teacher just hit him with the book and your dad took it and said nothing?!!?! Why didn't anyone sue?

People didn't sue everyone back then, and teachers used to be kinda brutal with kids. Reminds me of that "Another Brick in the Wall pt 2" video (from the movie The Wall), with the teacher ridiculing the student because of his poems ("Poems everyone! The lad consider himself a poet!")

Yet I find you lack of faith
Very disturbing

This was probably said before, but shouldn't this be in the general Star Wars forum?
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.

Probably. But it's here now and we can't move it ourselves. Jay would have to. And don't go starting another copy of it as that's just plain stupid. We'll let Jay decide how to handle it. There are a good half dozen threads out there that should be in different sections than the ones they are actually in.

When I opened this thread, I considered opening it on the "General Star Wars discussing", but chose not to:

1- The thread's topic hardly refers to "general SW discussing", it's merely a joke thread based on SW.

2- I knew it would eventually move to regular poems/haikus when people got tired of the SW joke and it stoped being funny.

Dath Chaltab's haiku
Needs an extra sylable
But I could be wrong

Depends on the pronunciation of your name...

Ri-car-lay-ih-tay or Ri-car-light

Which one is it? Either way, though, he's got either one too many syllables or one too few.

Uh no, I was refereing to "His thread wouldn't be funny". Maybe I'm mispronouncing or speaking too fast, but I read:

His - thread - wouldn't - be - fun - ny

Maybe it's

His - thread - would - n't - be - fun - ny

And btw, it's ri - car - lei - te, pronounced like "hee - kar - lay - teh"

That is what I meant.

It is Ree-Car-Lay-Tay. You have to remember, Bossk that Spanish and Portugese pronounce things differently.

That's the first time I see someone from a non-latin speaking country ackoledge that there's a difference between spanish and portuguese.

Yes, like the fact that the name of the Brazilian city of Recife is pronounced 'hay-see-fee." Did I mention my bro spent 2 years in Brazil and speaks both Spanish and Portuguese?

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I was unaware that Portugese always pronounced R's like we pronounce H's.

The way english-speaking people pronounce "R" is the way countryside people here pronounce. When it's in the beging of a sentence, or in the middle with 2 r's (like rr), than it's like "H" in hike, have, who, but it's a little bit stronger. When it's in the middle of the sentence, it's like the english "R", but kinda uh... different, can't explain.

There's also the way people from Rio pronounce R, but I won't go into detail, they have this horrible sounding accent.

In the middle of a word, is it the rolling R sound that so many English speakers have trouble with (myself not included)?

It's a bit like the R in "rico! suave!"

Seriously, there is no equivalent to that sound in english (as there's no equivalent to the english "TH" as in "the" "that" "this", in portuguese)

We just use the double R to designate it for the most part. At least that was how my Spanish classes dealt with it (yea yea, I know, we're talking about Portuguese, not Spanish). Many English speakers have a boatload of trouble rolling their Rs. See the movie Spanglish for that scene. Quite entertaining.
