Lucas' Next Step - more changes...

 (Edited)

Was browsing the Obsidian Entertainment message boards when I came across a particular signature that got me thinking.

What else could Lucas do to the OT?

I’ll tell you what he could do:

Introducing the re-re-re-release of Star Wars, now with Christopher Walken as Han Solo and Jodie Foster as Princess Leia!!

Now, I know the changes made up to this point have angered some of you. What would something like THAT do?

Personally I'd just shrug my shoulders, shake my head and walk on.... THAT IS IF they could just release the nice re-mastered OT like we all want.

I never, ever will buy the arguement that Lucas made once of 'why would I spend the money to renovate a film that I consider incomplete?' The money has been spent... over and over and over again. I'm sure the few cents it would cost to get an FX guy, a post house or even one of us to clean up the maybe two or three scenes that might possibly have not been touched already would be minimal in comparison to the cost of putting Hayden in ROTJ or any of the other crap. The sad truth may just be that ole George is just a few bananas short of a bunch.

Its like many of the remakes that come out of Hollywood- why for frak's sake make a shot-for-shot remake of 'Psycho'?? Do they have a right to? Yeah sure, its a free country. Is it a waste of money? Absolutely. Would *I* care to watch it (or most other remakes)? Not if I love the original, I won't. But isn't that what we go on about... just to be given a choice? At least Spielberg wised up at the last minute with 'E.T.' And other than Lucas, have you noticed that all the 'director's cuts' and theatrical releases of classic films have slowed waaaaaayyyyy down since '97 when the SE OT came out? People are learning.

So let George make a new version of the OT with hot young stars and Gungans running aroud everywhere. At least we have each other's preservation work of a series that 'doesn't exist'.

that would make me kidnap Lucas and do terrible, painful things to him. Unless of course he were to release the OOT on dvd first.

Which brings me AGAIN to my theory: GL is slowly turning SW into a romantic comedy staring Woody Allen and a CGI Shirley Temple.

Oh, and before someone complains AGAIN that I'm exagerating and being silly: folks, this is a JOKE, ok?! I couldn't get a laugh track yet, when I do it'll get MUCH easier to those who are too slow to understand jokes without someone laughing for them.

And all because Woody inexplicably stole Best Picture from him in '78.

My sentiments exactly? Chaltab, what is wrong with you? You hate Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Frank Miller and you don't know who Woody Allen is?

I don't hate Monty Python anything, I just thought it was pretty worthless.

And I don't hate Frank Miller either; I've never read any thing he'd done.

And when I hear "Woody Allen" I think Woody from Toy Story mixed with Tim Allen. Which gets me absolutely nowhere. I've never heard of him outside Ric's little theory.

[sarcasm]No, Warbler. I've been lying to you and making myself look even more ignorant on top of not knowing where the "Mostly" line came from or who the Knights of Ni are![/sarcasm]

Chaltab. Noun.

2)The Bane of the Mangler Brother's existence.
3) Me on evil pills.
4)Where the Force meets the Triforce

Well, it certainly isn't #2. "Bane" implies that we are overly concerned by his existence. I can't say as how we are.

No, it was me who said it. Good ol' Ric.

And this is mr. Woody Allen.

It's not multiple choice, Bossk, it's all of the above.

OK here, this might be working. Woody Allen with Cristina Ricci.

I beg to differ.

I second that.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

With that second, I move to a vote...

All in favor of declaring Chaltab's statement a multiple choice question, say "aye"!

Hey! I even followed Robert's Rules of Order on this one.
