Most of her maneuvers could be considered luck (or perhaps Ben would say the will of the Force guiding her) and are done with little precision.

You must have been watching a different chase than what I saw.

I mean it’s there in SW but it doesn’t change anything, he still does everything he sets out to do and never makes a mistake.

He gets his butt handed to him twice. First by a couple Tusken Raiders and then by a drunk.

He charges into the detention block with no exit plan and has to be saved by the quick thinking of the Princess.

He blasts the bridge controls trapping them on a cliff.

He almost gets them all killed when he shouts after Ben’s death.

He misses multiple times in the gun turret of the Falcon before he finally gets the hang of it.

He didn’t just get hit during the Death Star battle, that Tie had him locked on and Luke could not shake him. He would have died right there and then if not for Wedge. And again, he almost fried himself at the start.

Meanwhile, Rey readily takes down multiple attackers with a melee weapon. And is a deadshot that never misses once she’s given a blaster.

I said most. The sharp turn and the flip that sets Finn up for his shot are probably the only moves that fall into that category.

I don’t really think that, just a rhetorical device. Like Rey his journey isn’t easy but in the end everything works out in their favor.

And it’s not just that the Falcon got hit. She wouldn’t have been able to take out those TIEs and get away without Finn.

Meanwhile, Rey readily takes down multiple attackers with a melee weapon.

Jakku doesn’t look like a safe place to be a loner.

And is a deadshot that never misses once she’s given a blaster.

Except her first shot hits a tree? Also this: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/40k569/spoilers_whos_the_best_blaster_shot_in_star_wars/

I really don’t see the point of denying that TFA sucks…

She was barely pulling them off as she was very panicked during that scenes.

He charges into the detention block with no exit plan and has to be saved by the quick thinking of the Princess.

Han and Chewie were there too…I don’t see your point.

He blasts the bridge controls trapping them on a cliff.

He almost gets them all killed when he shouts after Ben’s death.

Rey almost gets the crew killed when she accidentally released the Rathtars

He misses multiple times in the gun turret of the Falcon before he finally gets the hang of it.

Meanwhile, Rey readily takes down multiple attackers with a melee weapon.

She 's been fighting with that thing for YEARS so of course she’s going to be able to do that. You can’t fault a character for abilities their backstory covers.

And is a deadshot that never misses once she’s given a blaster.

You’re lying. She misses her first shot with the Storm Trooper after she shoots at him with the safety on. Also Han, Chewie and Finn are way better shots than her while Luke is actually on par with the rest of the characters in STAR WARS.

Well there I’d disagree. It has a lot of bad elements but overall it’s still fun enough to overlook most of them. But the Starkiller is unforgivable.

Anyway, we’ve probably spent enough time on this TFA tangent.

How about that Tie Striker, eh?

Has anyone got any insight into when tickets for TFA might go on sale? Tired of googling and getting various predictions.

Oh, I mean rogue one tickets.

Rumour has it that they will go on sale November 7th.

By the way Han shot first.

Honestly don’t give two toots if some people decide to go out of their way to take offense at such a term. It’s a descriptor for a type of character. Wesley Crusher was a Mary Sue.

As it gets closer to November 7th the more believable it is that the tickets will go on sale on that day because there are a lot of TV ads starting to pour in and the way I see it is they usually start coming in right around the time tickets go on sale.

By the way Han shot first.

That seems likely to be the case. Doctor Strange tickets went on sale about a month out from release. Seems like they don’t do the two to three months out pre-sales anymore.

And quite an annoying one as well (but he has a few very good episodes, especially when he stops being a Mary Sue).

(by the way I love your new avatar)

So who is planning to buy pre-sale tickets? IMAX 3D? Standard 3D? Standard?

I tend to see movies first in standard, 3D and finally IMAX 3D

TFA was the only movie I did the pre ticket sales for and I wont be doing it for Rogue One. I’m not even taking off work to see it. But don’t get any ideas; I’m still very pumped to see this movie.

I don’t go out of my way but duly noted that you don’t care that people don’t appreciate such a sexist term.

The amount of references to male Mary Sues are about 0.005% of female Mary Sues. That’s precisely why it is sexist.

Daisy seems to not like the term either though I think there should be a better reason than “Because it’s the name of a girl”.

What a ridiculous argument. Is “Benedict Arnold” as a term sexist toward men?

What a ridiculous response. I didn’t say Mary Sue is a sexist term because it is a female name.

The number of male Mary Sues far exceeds female Mary Sues, yet female Mary Sues are labelled as such much more often, that is why it is sexist.

I think she should have just stuck with the confusion due to Luke’s abilities. Crying sexism seems like she’s trying to compensate due to not having an argument.

Crying sexism because it is a female name is silly, crying sexism because of the way the female name is used is not silly.

Yeah and I’m saying the majority of people being called a Benedict Arnold are probably men. Does that make it sexist?

Perhaps. but i don’t get why this idea that you can point out a separate issue (even if possibly related) and think that it negates the current issue. Just stop calling Rey a Mary Sue, and start saying “i don’t like woman leads”

I agree though most male Mary Sues are just called overpowered so there’s not a huge difference.

How lazy is that. Someone says something you don’t like and so you just immediately jump to labeling them an “-ist” to try and shut them down.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but we’re in a Rogue One thread. A film I happen to be quite psyched about. I have no opinion on Jyn as I haven’t seen the film yet. Could she enter the hallowed halls of awesome female protagonists like Ellen Ripley or Sarah Connor? Quite possibly. Or she could fall into Rey territory. No one knows yet.

And that’s not a knock Daisy’s performance. She was failed by the writing. Which is painful to say about a Lawrence Kasdan script but then Abrams is credited as co-writer. It wouldn’t be a shock to me to learn that Abrams had written most of it with Kasdan brought in to punch it up and to use his name for fan cred.
