Sometime ago the squeeze was not in work for a bit and found the sound of my Jane Fonda style home exercise regime too annoying.
So I got a gym membership.
I paid a little extra so I could take breaks now and then while visiting the folks down south and it was quite a nice arrangement.
The gym was well equipped, the cleaning staff etc were friendly and helpful.
I got this job and they don’t have a branch where I work so I thought I would suspend my account.
The lady at the reception told me to use the website to suspend it so I tried to log on but it kept telling me my password was wrong. So I tried changing it but I was caught in an endless loop trying to prove I wasn’t a robot.
I ended up being directed to multiple sites, being pushed to download an app on my phone which I haven’t got space for and finally getting some really sarcastic comments from a representative on facebook.
I just lost my temper and cancelled the debit now they want me to pay £50 and are threatening to charge me another £25 every time I refuse to pay.
How can I go from being happy with them and wanting to suspend my account to be really furious with them and being robbed via so called service charges?
I hear this is common practice for lots of debit transactions so why is it allowed to go on?
I will never pay for anything by direct debit again.
