Hello! I am from Hungary and Star Wars was always a part of my childhood. (Despite being a 90s kid) We only had the first movie and RotJ though, so it always left little me frustrated that I missed the Empire Strikes Back and didn’t know what happened in it…

Recently got into it again, especially since I saw the last movie of the Skywalker-Saga in the theaters last December before Xmas. I still prefer the Original Trilogy though.

Nice to meet you all. 😃

Hello all,
I was talking with my sister (who is a huge Harry Potter fan) about the Harry Potter movies and she said she’s seen on TV the extended release versions. I went to Google to see what she was talking about and it led me here. I had no idea this even existed and I’m excited to dig around here to see what this is all about.
I’m older in life with a full time career but I’ll poke around here when I can. Thanks for letting me in and talk to you soon.

Hello, Thanks to the admins of this site. Thank you to all who contribute. I have been a part of your community for several months, and am admittedly still a newb. I have been a fan of Star Wars since having seen the original in '77. I am old-school and partial the O.T. over all others. While I was away from the S.W. galaxy for many years, Harmy’s DEED reminded me what I was missing, had missed. I look forward to his 3.0. Thanks to Adywan for his Revisited edits. While I am not particularly a S.E. fan, I greatly appreciate his work, enough to locate and purchase the '97 SE Platinum tril. on VHS in anticipation of downloading his work.

Hello my rebel friends, I just wanted to say it’s great to find a place devoted to just the Original Trilogy. Star Wars has become so huge that when someone asks if I’m “into” Star Wars I have to be honest and say “not really.” And not out of bitterness but simply that what I really love is all right here and the rest is ancillary and I just couldn’t keep up with it even if I wanted to. But I do indeed have nothing but love for Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi and always will.

Hi OT!

I have been a Star Wars fan since the 80’s (I was born in 1981) and have not been able to shake it as much as I had wanted to in recent times. My introduction to OT Star Wars was over wearing out the VHS tapes, when I was a kid, as i could not get enough of its world. It was my dad’s fault but I honestly don’t blame him for it. Today, as a collector, I own versions of the films on VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital. I also collect the comic books, books, posters, action figures, video games, and miniature games. It has always been a pretty big deal in my life. And while I try to keep myself involved as much as possible, I always come across new stories and information regarding its universe. Sadly, Disney had done a pretty good job in keeping me disinterested for a bit in the the past recent years with its adaptation of the sequel trilogy. However, I can say that Rogue One managed to bring me back to the reasons why I love Star Wars so much (though, there is a only 1 specific version I can watch that makes it a true Star Wars movie 😉). I also cannot forget to mention the Mandalorian. I am highly excited for its upcoming 2nd season!
By joining OT.com, I hope to discuss all things Star Wars with other fans and possibly learn about characters/stories I have yet discovered or just hash out thoughts and opinions. Of course I will need to learn how this site works as a newbie. See you around and MTFBWY!

Hello, My name is Jarod(not a real one but I like it). I am a huge Harry Potter fan. just crazy about it. I have my reasons to love it and it helped me through some time as a kinda safe blanket. I started collecting it and now I have almost all special editions from allover the world. I like to see how same movie can be wrapped in different covers. Also I am a huge fan of Disney. I have it all. When I was a kid I collected everything on VHS. Then did same with dvd. now I am living in Canada and I completed my Blu-ray collection. My big goal is to find all blur ays from Disney that contain Russian audio track (official releases).[I am from Belarus BTW] I have all of them now. Also I have them all in Steelbooks from UK.

So I am a movie fan. Huge one. I just like to resolve in a story and enjoy it from start till the very end. Few years ago I discovered Open Matte format. I fell in love. I searched fro Imax versions of Harry Potter. Finally I was reworded with all HBO Harry Potter web files. It was amazing. Then I start to look some some of my favorite movies and I found a lot of them. Like I have almost all Marvel cinematic universe in Open Matte Format with Localized Video Track (It is when movie title is in Russian language in my case).

Why I am here? It is simple. As a child (I am 40yo) I loved to see movies in cinema. I am not very happy with what is coming now on BR and 4K. It is not the same emotions that I had as a kid. So I found on Russian tracker scanned version of Aladdin 35mm. OMG!!! You have no idea what the day it was. I found exactly same translation I had as a kid and with Final Cut Pro I adjusted it to the picture. It was like I am back to my childhood. Way better than any 4K. I started to search for those who does that amazing job and found that web site. My goal is to find all original Disney scans.

Oof. I got carried away with writing. 😃

Greetings …
I happened across one of this group’s fan-edits a few weeks (THE ABYSS) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I always felt it was one Cameron’s overlooked films, and it was the cleanest extended editions I’ve seen so far. I’ve been a film nut for decades, pre-VHS days, and the thought of owning an actual film I loved was completely intoxication … though, at the time, I had no idea it was the death-knell of I the small theaters I frequented in the 70’s. Over the decades, I’ve amassed quite a collection of films on multiple formats (CED,LD,DVD, BluRay … then evenentually, digital downloads … with the occasional VHS thrown in if it’s one-of-a-kind, as I never really embraced the format as I dislike pan-and-scan with a passion).
I pretty much “old-school”, so I haven’t a big fan of 4K,as I think most presentations are very un-filmlike. So here I am, hoping to read about the projects. Not a huge Star Wars fan, so I’ll probably be digging around the alternate project more. BTW,I haven’t watched it ages as my play needs another stylus, but I recall the original CED of Star Wars didn’t have the “New Hope” in the opening. Just to make “peace” with any fanatics, I did see Star Wars on a huge screen about 2 months after it’s release in theaters back in '76 … I went back about 12 times following that (but honestly … I was very high during the 70’s). Still prefer ZARDOZ.

Salute Gentlemen,

My Name is Sincano, … il Sincano and I just signed into this Forum.
Like most of You (if not all), I do have a great passion for Movies of a more civilized Age - especially 1960s-80s Films.
Unfortunately, these works of art rarely get the restauration they deserve.
Now I am very excited to find out more about the ongoing projects in this Community of dedicated Cinemalovers.

Until then, Arrivederci

Hello there. I am obviously a new member to the forum and a life long Star Wars fan. I’m very excited that now in middle age, in the middle of thee pandemic I’ve stumbled on into the world of these amazing fan projects. I’m not what you call a tech person so to say I late to the party is an understatement. But very indicative of my personality. I’ve bought and traded for every Star Wars thing I could since I was 12 years old.But now in my mid 40s I feel like I’ve stumbled into a whole world. I feel excited like I did when I was a kid.
Thanks in advance to everyone helping me get comfortable with how things work here. And I apologize in advance also in the case that I may ask some dumb questions.
I don’t have a lot of knowledge yet about the fan projects. But I assure you I’m as excited to learn about the projects and process as much as I am to see them…well I might be a little more excited to se them lol
Anyway this got way longer than I expected, but thanks to everyone who made this place possible

Hey everyone.

I’ve been fanediting for the past six months and have so far released edits of Thor, Godzilla, Drive and After Earth. Details of those projects can be found over at Fanedit.org. I’m also nearing completion of two further edits:

Valerian - No Love Lost Edition
Trailer: https://vimeo.com/452906433

The Amazing Spider-Man - Radioactive Edition
Trailer: https://vimeo.com/474797545

I was keen to join this community as I’m putting together an idea for a stand alone Star Wars sequel using episodes 7 and 8 as the base and I figured this would be the best place to spitball ideas for it. I’m looking forward to getting to know some more people within the fanediting community and sharing my ideas and edits with you.

Hi everyone!

I’m Kevin. I’m here because the original trilogy were some of my all time favorites. I’ve owned every version of the films that have been released and the new ones make me sick to my stomach. For years I got by with just the old laser disc versions but now I have kids and they’re too spoiled to watch the very poor quality laser disc version and I can’t stomach the new ones. I appreciate all the hard work this community has done to try to recreate a version of these films that I can show my kids so they can love the movies too.

Hi everyone!

I’ve been a Star Wars fan ever since I was a kid. I was first introduced to Star Wars by the 2003 Clone Wars series and I haven’t stopped loving Star Wars ever since. I love the prequels, the OT, the clone wars 2008 and 2003 serie and I’m currently reading the Thrawn trilogy, which is quite amazing. I’m not so much of a sequel fan, but I respect other people’s opinion. As a die-hard fan, I’d like to introduce my little sisters to the real original trilogy, a chance I didn’t have. I really appreciate the effort of the people here and I’m looking forward to seeing the amazing work that they have done. Thanks a lot guys!

Hey.

My names AVeryLateWizard, loved Star Wars since I was small. As I got older, I began to grow more annoyed with the changes and additions in the Special Editions, and that’s how I found the Despecialized Editions. Now I’ve kinda become obsessed with finding all the versions of the OT out there, including 4K77 and others, to show to my friends and family. I’m still new to this sort of thing, but hopefully you guys can help.

May the force be with ya.

Hi OT crew,I heard about OT on the YT Channel Retro Blasting (Big shout out to Michael & Melinda, Gongrats on the Wedding). Since then I have visited the site without registering but after watching A couple of episodes of The Mandalorian it has got me excited about Star Wars again. Also I did manage to see a couple of Hal9000 fan edits last year which I thought were awesome and managed to bring some excitement into the prequel trilogy.

Well that’s enough about me, off to do some exploring around the site. Thank you to whoever has taken the time to read this 😄

Hello all new member here. Been a fan since seeing the first movie “Star Wars” on the big screen. Spent time as a member of the 501st\Rebel Legion and currently part of the Builders Group. Really impressed with some of the fan edits such as Adywan’s ANH and wanted to be apart of the forum.

Kinda late to introduce myself but my name is Alex and I’m 18. I go by G&G-Fan as I used to be a gigantic fan of Godzilla and Gamera when I was younger so I used that username on every site I registered on, especially YouTube, and since pretty much everyone calls me G&G unless they’re a close friend I’ve stuck with the name, even though I’m more into paleontology (especially dinosaurs and other Mesozoic animals), Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe now, though I still have an interest in kaiju (mostly Godzilla).

I came because I have a huge interest in fan-edits; I generally think the idea of reediting a movie to improve it is awesome. I first got into fan-editing when I started reediting some of the Heisei Godzilla movies for myself (though I never finished any of them, but it’s something I’m planning on doing in the future), I completed an edit combining the Japanes and American versions of the original Godzilla, and I came back because I wanted to make my own Star Wars fan-edits so I could shape the films however I wanted.

I had a mild interest in Star Wars when I was younger; it really wasn’t until TFA and Rogue One that I actually really got into it. I started watching the prequels and originals again as a result and really got into the lore. My favorites have always been Revenge of the Sith, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. A New Hope is great as well but it’s never been a huge favorite of mine. My favorite Star Wars character and favorite fictional character ever is Anakin/Vader (not only because he’s a badass but because I feel like I can relate to certain traits of him; I feel like I could do an entire psychological analysis of him), and I’m also a fan of Qui-Gon, Sidious, Luke, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Maul. I guess you could probably call me a “prequel fan” as I enjoy all three prequels, I generally defend them (Hayden Christensen did a good job and was perfect for the role of Anakin, don’t @ me), have an addiction to prequel memes, and get giddy whenever original trilogy stuff ties in with the prequels. Nevertheless, I do prefer the original trilogy between the two as it’s overall a better trilogy, though I consider Revenge of the Sith to be on the same tier as the OT movies. I despise the sequels but I think that Disney’s acquisition of Star Wars was overall a great thing, as we got The Mandalorian, Rogue One, and I generally prefer the Disney Canon when it comes to the stuff that came between the films. Disney’s portrayal of Vader especially I think is way better then Legends. My favorite Star Wars thing Disney has put out is actually the Vader comics, and I’d kill for a movie that’s just like them. I also have a more positive view of the special editions then most may have: while some changes are downright stupid and bad, I think they had all the right ideas, even if they were sometimes misguided and/or lacking in terms of execution. I do also support the original versions of the films being released in a presentable quality.

And on an unrelated note I also created and am leading the development of an upcoming dinosaur wildlife documentary called Dinosauria: Ascension, Domination, Downfall. It’s progressing slowly but surely, I’m very proud of the work me and my team has done so far and I’m excited for it to be finished, everyone involved is putting a lot of hard work into it. My goal with it is for it to be the most scientifically accurate and beautifully made dinosaur documentary since Walking with Dinosaurs.

Also, I actually came here because I have a question; how do you put a link in words? Like you did for every link in the first post (the link to the discord server, about and help pages, etc.). I’d like to change my signature so I don’t have the full link in there.

Hi all,

Happy to be here! As one of the SW OGs, I have been an aficionado of the series since watching the original 77 when I was 8. I kept all of my collectibles in mint condition and love seeing the excellent work done here to bring the originals back. Growing up in San Diego, I took advantage of the ComiCon culture and have amassed a sizeable collection. Most everything I have though is flat - cards, comics, autographs, flyers, posters, etc. That may be why I associate my username with Talon Karrde, which eventually morphed to karrdeguy as I have a lot of old cards. It is probably also related to the fact that he was a smuggler and his Solo-esque quality appealed to me.

It is hard to find time these days to “play” with my favorite pastime, as my real-world work has been frantic given the IT needs in a Covid world. But I will lurk around a bit and contribute when I can 😉

Hi Everyone: I’m a longtime lurker, first-time worker, planning on putting together a preservation box to introduce my (as yet unborn) children to the Despecialized OT, as well as fan edits such as Hal9000s of the Prequel/Sequel Trilogies. I’m also just keen on seeing how something like Adywan’s changes to ESB alters the movie I remember.

This is my newbie shopping list for wanting to create (my) Perfect Star Wars Box Set™

Planned basic purchases:

  • Blu-Ray burner (to put the movies onto the discs)
  • Blu-Ray discs (printable for custom artwork)
  • Printer for artwork (on both paper sleeves/inserts & discs)
  • Inks and paper for printer

At the moment I’m just a hopeful farm boy with a dream and a laptop, looking and listening to whatever council might be out there.

So what do you think? Is this enough to get started or have I missed much?
