hello,
I only recently became aware of fan editing through harmys and adywans editions. I had no idea how big of a hobby its become. I wanted to become a member here to learn more about it and Im really excited to see all these new projects. I hope to share my own too (although many have already made the same changes I would have!).

Hello, I’m Troc. I’m an indie filmmaker and a restoration&enhancement enthusiast. Much of the work here impresses me and maybe I could also add some of my knowledge to the grand total here.

Hello there. Been lingering around quite a bit here, a lots of cool stuff. What I’m mainly interested in is the theatrical cuts of the original trilogy, that we don’t really, officially get. Some of the restoration projects you folks here take up is amazing. Lots of cool fan edits, too, Adywan’s ones being my favourite of 'em. I wish they were official, as well as 4kXX projects. These are the best versions currently available for us the look at (I do admit I like, even love, the blue-tinted timing of Empire, but SW '77 is real faulty). Others like Harmy are great too. And talking about some little bits no one notices. Plus, I love Star Wars in general, so it’s a good place to talk about some stuff I want to talk about, ain’t it?

Hey all!

My name is Bob, and though I’m not a big Star Wars fan, I have found this community to be rather nice, and I enjoy working on, and watching, fan edits of all sorts. I also have a great appreciation for those that put so much effort into preserving the original Star Wars trilogy, and fan edits in general. I have randomly come across this site in my journeys a number of times, for a wide variety of reasons, and now I’ve decided to join the gang.

The main reason for that is that I just finished a massive fan edit project (a chronological version of the TV show “Lost”, though different than ones currently out there), which I’ll talk all about in a separate post of it’s own, in the proper section of the site. This community seemed like the perfect place to talk about (and hopefully share) that.

Beyond that, I really enjoy video & audio editing in general, and will probably work on many more fan edit projects in the future, and really enjoy discussing things of that nature as well.

Good times!

Hi everyone, I’m Daniel and I’m a fan of SW since I was a child. I really hope I can manage to find here a good forum to preserve the spirit and the legacy of what SW had meant and still means to me for the future generations, my kids included.

Hello there, I am AspiringCreator. I’ve been a Star Wars fan since the early 2000s when I first watched the Original Trilogy on VHS (The copies that featured at the beginning a brief interview of George Lucas by Leonard Maltin.) and since then I have been in love with this series through thick and thin from the Prequels through the Sequels.

Mainly I joined because I was motivated by the fan-edit The Rise of Skywalker: Resurgent. I was never a big fan-edit guy before this but when it came to this movie I was willing to seek out the edits wherever I could. I was always aware of this site before then but my experience mostly was through the movie The People vs. George Lucas which should tell you generally how I initially came to view it. Thankfully I grew out of that mindset and am just a person who loves Star Wars and would love to share my love with others.

Moin moin from Germany!
Not sure what to say about myself, but feel free to ask me anything.
I never had the chance to see any of the Original Star Wars Movies, thanks to certain People who don’t have any respect for their own work.
Would love to get the chance to see what my father saw back then.

Have a wondferfull Day everyone!

Hi everyone.

I first Star Wars (ANH) in 1984, aged 6 or 7, on VHS. I saw TESB & ROTJ over the next year and watched the OT countless times throughout my childhood. In 1986 my dad took me to see IV-VI back-to-back at the Prince Charles Cinema in London.
As an only child I entertained myself with figures and vehicles acting out scenes as well as making up additional ones.
Was buzzing with anticipation in the lead-up to the TFM but felt it wasn’t quite what I’d hoped for. AOTC was better but still not great. I approached ROTS thinking that this what I’d been waiting almost 2 decades for so I’d forgive the previous 2 once I got the “turn” explanation on screen.
I have to say that it didn’t meet my expectations. I rewatched the PT a few times in the hope that I had judged it too harshly. I felt I’d been fair and accepted it as GL’s story but feel it suffered from his falling out with former colleagues who should have directed, written screenplays, etc.
Anyway, they’ve grown on me since.
I never understood those who went OTT and abused George. They are not worth saying anymore about.
Finally, on the Disney ST…eesh!
I hate them and don’t consider them as part of my headcanon.

Hello. Been an idling fan of Star Wars for awhile now. Of course not as much as I used to way back in the day. Honestly been a greater fan of Star Trek.
Carry on.

Hello! I’ve been raised around different kinds of sci-fi media since a very, very young age by way of my mother, and I’ve always had an appreciation for stories that take place in the sky. Despite this, I somehow haven’t watched Star Wars until fairly recently - I was more of a Space Battleship Yamato and Legend of the Galactic Heroes fan, and by the time I was born (nevermind old enough to understand or appreciate the movies), the special editions had become pretty much the only available official copies. I had zero interest in the special editions due to my own beliefs on changing art after the fact, so for many years, I just figured it wasn’t for me.

I recently made the decision to check out at least the original trilogy during quarantine, after the urging of several friends and a bout of curiosity sparked by, of all things, some scans of rather amusingly bad teen magazine articles on Mark Hamill. I was directed here from a search for the original versions, and found myself fascinated by both the discussion here and all the ongoing efforts to preserve the series as it originally existed.

So here I am!

Let a thousand stars shine 'til we all burn out!

Hi everyone, I’ll be honest, I didn’t think it was a site dedicated more than anything to SW, but I guess it’s a good opportunity to take a look, I came looking for an old m.o.n.o audio of a movie and I was surprised that a member is going to restore the movie with everything and the mono audio I was looking for, very happy to find this site 😃

Hey!

I’m Zurnit and I’m here cause I’ve always wanted to experience the masterpiece that the Star Wars original triology is like it was experienced back in the 70s and 80s and conceived by everyone involved.

I think it’s perhaps the most culturally relevant triology of all time and that it is a crime that us fans have no official release of the much more culturally relevant theatrical cuts in high definiton and have had no official releases of it at all since the 2006 GOUT (which is an awful transfer anyway).

Hi Folks,

my name is John (from the UK) and of course, i am a huge fan of the SW universe - in particular the OT. I sought out this fora for the ‘obvious reason’ (although i didn’t know it was a forum etc). so that is a very pleasant surprise. I am a huge fan of the SW community, and regular costume for charity (Vader) and have amassed a small (ish ha ha) collection of life size movie props and memorabilia over the years. I also spend (far too much) time making my own costumes/props/statues etc, always striving for as much accuracy as possible. I am an active member of many other forums (the RPF, Sith Lords, Dented Helmet) and i look forward to my time here amongst you all.

Hello. I’m Cal. I’m a big fan of the Original Trilogy. I saw Star Wars as a boy when it released in '77. I really enjoyed it but did not get caught up in fandom, at that time. Many years later, while compiling a somewhat modest VHS library, I bought an Original Trilogy S.E. box set. I’m not sure of the year. I do remember there was a face on each of the covers, the tapes sat side-by-side, and the sleeve holding the tapes slid out from the side. At some point I misplaced it, and have not seen it since. But, I digress. A few years ago I came across Harmy’s works, thestarwarstrilogy.com, fanedit.org, and this site, as well as a few others; I don’t recall which specifically. As a result I have since put together a small collection of Star Wars VHS, DVD, and Bluray box sets, as well as a few individual DVDs, while also putting together a nice collection of fan edits, and of course the great restorations from here. In short, I am now a fan. Also, I recently got into working with subtitles – just as a hobby – though no where near the calibre as @CatBus, nor @schorman. I’m a bit of an introvert, which I mention only to compliment those of you here, at thestarwarstrilogy.com, and at fanedit.org who have been receptive to my inquiries, and patient with me in my P.M.s. (As you and they know, I have a tendency to ramble, a bit.) I am happy to be of help in whatever way I am able.
(Note to the moderators: I can’t recall having introduced myself. If I have, feel free to delete this.)

Hello. My name is Noah. I have been a user here since 2018 and a fan editor since 2017.

I have always loved movies and entertainment, and I have been a Star Wars fan since 2005. My earliest memory was seeing my dad watch A New Hope on TV one day, seeing Darth Vader and C-3PO for the first time. I was born a few weeks before The Phantom Menace was released, and it was also the first movie my parents took me to see.

Since then, I have been a fan of many different franchises and properties such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, DC, Marvel, Terminator, Disney, Pixar, video games, etc.

I discovered fan edits back in 2013 through The Phantom Edit, Adywan’s Revisited, fanedit.org, and of course, this site. I always thought it was a really interesting to take an already existing movie and re-edit it to your own liking.

Years later, in early 2017, I was bored and thought about getting myself a video editing software. Once I got one, my interest in fan edits has spiked up gradually again, and I have been making fan edits since then.

As of right now, I currently have made my own edits of the Star Wars Original and Prequel trilogies, extended editions of the Harry Potter films, Spider-Man 3, Looney Tunes: Back in Action, the first Superman movie, and by far my most exhaustive projects, Sonic X: Uncut English Edition, and enhanced editions of the Harry Potter audiobooks (which I am still working on).

Currently, I am working on my big project of Superman II, and I am looking for someone talented in VFX and perhaps even audio editing. I myself do not have any experience in VFX, but I have seen some amazing work done here on Hal 9000’s edits and other projects, so I might as well look to find some of the best on here. I would really appreciate it, but also looking forward to meeting others on the site, as I’ve had a great experience here.

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.

Hi, OT members!

My name is Will and I would like to learn how to make fan fixes. I’m good at making other types of fan edits as well as making fan preservations, however.

I learned about this site from an online friend of mine. He told me about the Despecialized Editions of Star Wars and this site through Discord recently. I’m glad I’ve found it!
