With the ability to upload your own avatar, you'll probably see hardly anyone looking the same anymore. I don't think I'm alone in saying that as soon as the new software goes live, my avatar will be changing.

I chose this one because I didn't know anyone else at the time that was using it. I think it's cool, but an avatar is meant to be something that sets you apart from everyone else. A non-SW non-sci-fi related avatar is what I normally use on other boards.

Not at launch, no. I'll probably put together some alternative color schemes later on, but I doubt I'll build a color editor like the current software. Too much work for a function that very few people use. If you take some screen captures of a few forum pages and send them to me (preferably in GIF, PNG, or bitmap format to maintain color accuracy), I can try to build a color scheme that mimics what you're using.

Anybody else not like the color scheme, either in the current forum or the new design? It is pretty damn bland now that I take off my developer's glasses and look at it with my designer's glasses. It's tough for me to say because I haven't had my LCDs professionally calibrated and I don't know if they're color-correct. Plus, I've always preferred muted colors.

After the Mac expenditure, I don't really have any money left over for one of their studio LCDs, which I've heard have great out-of-the-box calibration.

The less white involved, the better - then it doesn't look like we're staring into the sun at night. A splash of orange or something might be nice.

I'm working on a few color schemes that may or may not launch with the software. One is a nice red/orange/grey mix, one is a muted blue, and one incorporates the current colors (probably called "classic").

I tried to finish it up this weekend, but after compiling a to-do list on Saturday I realized that wasn't feasible. I'm in the midst of rewriting all database queries as stored procedures to improve performance. After that I need to perform security checks to make sure there aren't any holes anywhere, which includes some form validation I haven't completed yet. I've tried to be careful during development so I'm not anticipating any serious problems.

The list is substantial, but my problem until now has been my tendency to float along and work on whatever I feel like dealing with when I'm in the mood to do it. With the core functionality complete, I decided to nail down everything I need to do, put a list together, and tackle each item one at a time.
