4K restoration on Star Wars
Time

I’m waiting until Celebration before I put much faith in this report.

I would think Disney would have jumped on releasing the OUT after purchasing LucasFilm, but they didn’t.

The 40th anniversary is certainly a plausible reason they waited but I need more than this rumour. Only a few months more to find out for sure. If they don’t announce it then…we still have the 50th anniversary.

Star Wars parody from the makers of Scary Movie and other movie spoof films
Time

I’m down for another Star Wars parody, but not by these yokels. I’m still holding out hope for Spaceballs 2.

Parodies have gone through quite a rough patch and I think its partly because they seem aimless. I’ve heard the Lego Batman movie sparks some hope that good parodies can still be made.

Despecialized: Cant find mds file in the new 2.7 version of the Star wars.

You can create a new folder named CERTIFICATE, it can be empty, as it was before.
Then use Image burn to create the .ISO & .MDS files. The CERTIFICATE folder has
no purpose in these projects but some Apps & players expect it to be there.
If I remember correctly 2.6 had the same issue and this is what I did.

This was excellent help! I’m new to this and this was exactly what I needed.

Your assistance was VERY MUCH appreciated!

Star Wars moving forward without Ms. Fisher
Time

I cannot understand people that complain about “fan service”. How fucking insane that the producers of the Star Wars movies would include stuff for the fans of Star Wars.

And to include the Death Star in a movie whose plot revolves around the stealing of the Death Star plans? Why would they do that?

I can only wonder what these threads would have looked like if they were around after the release of ROTJ. “So much stuff was included just for fans of the other two movies. Han Solo coming back again and another Death Star!”

Fuck all, there is a thing like plot. Not everything is just “fan service”, and if your not a fan, just don’t watch the movies.

Nothing at all in this post about Leia (RIP Carrie Fisher) but that seems par for this thread currently.

Name EPISODE VIII Thread
Time

I think Episode VIII will be Legacy of the Force.

The question of who Rey’s parents are is something a lot of people were discussing after seeing the movie and I particularly like one of them (keeping it vague just in case it turns out true and anyone wants to go into Episode VIII with as little information / speculation possible) and that would be a fitting title.

It would also work for Episode IX as well and might possibly be better as a bookend and setting up the next trilogy.

I do like the “Knights of Ren” title though.

What if Disney decided to remake the OT?
Time

Won’t happen. Disney/LucasFilm is intent on moving forward with the franchise and do the Anthology films.

More likely is that they take a break from the Saga films after nine and do a run of Anthologies . I wouldn’t be adverse to them doing a trilogy set during the Old Republic and make some of those concepts cannon like they’re doing with Thrawn in Rebels.

The Star Wars universe is vast and it just doesn’t make sense to reboot the Skywalker saga with so many other stories to be told.

I assume you’re just describing a hunch, but I don’t think I’ve seen any evidence that would suggest one way or the other. It would be a bizarre business deal, if so, but not impossible.

Oh yeah, it’s a total hunch and assumption on my part. Disney has been killing it in regards to franchises, whether it be Star Wars, Marvel or their live action adaptations. They’ve been giving fans what they want and they love money.

Of course, Fox could still be retaining distribution rights or there could be a myriad of other reasons why having the original cuts of the movies in true HD not available.

I just don’t buy that it’s too costly to do because it’s Disney, or that it’s too difficult. I don’t have the knowledge or skills to pull it off but LucasFilm certainly does. Otherwise, a group of impassioned and talented fans have pulled off a feat that those powerhouses have deemed impossible (kudos to those talented fans anyhow).

“Tora! Tora! Tora!” (1970) 3 1/2 out of 5 stars

Dry but well made (for it’s time) docudrama about the December 7th 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. With the model work, I kept expecting Godzilla to pop out of the sea at any moment.

I really enjoy Tora! Tora! Tora!. Much better than Pearl Harbor.

I’m pretty sure when GL sold LucasFilm to the House of the Mouse there were stipulations to the original trilogy. Like it or not the current iteration is his “definitive version” of the Saga and Disney can’t mess with it / release HD editions of the Original Trilogy.

What I would be interested in knowing is if, now that Disney owns Star Wars, if that means that George can no longer mess with it either.
