What's so bad about it not being anamorphic? They're working from a letterbox source so they're not going to gain much quality.

They're working from a letterboxed analog source, so using more pixels to represent the same amount of visual information is always a good thing.

Info Wanted: Anyone Planning on making Anamorphic versions using 2006 OUT DVDs?

Well, AVISynth is a frameserver, so in theory, you can use an AVS file with every program that can read AVI.

If only it were so... but there are many programs that don't support AVS files. I guess AviSynth won't work with programs that read the files literally (I don't know the technical details of AVI files or the code used to parse them, but it would be great if someone else could follow up on this). That's why we need to use a plugin in order to use AVS files in Premiere.

That would be a very large waste of space. Currently, I'm putting them on a DVD5, but may buy 3 DVD9s if I get the process down pat.

That depends on how you rip it. I don't know what DVDFab's options are, but it's likely to be similar to the ones in DVD Decrypter. If you rip in .ISO mode, you'll get an .ISO image file that is exactly identical to the DVD you ripped it from (except the removal of certain restrictions if you select the appropriate options), including the XBox demo. If your intention is to reauthor these as anamorphic DVDs, however, you're going to want to rip in IFO mode, which will give you only the video and audio (and possibly subtitle) data.

That might needlessly slow down the encoding process, though, since you'd then be running the video through two different frameservers (Avisynth and VirtualDub). Also, Avisynth is the program doing the resizing, not VirtualDub or TMPGEnc, so going through VirtualDub is really just a waste of system resources.

Now you want to 'Start Frame Server...', read this excellent guide to using frameserver from VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod. My only suggestion not mentioned there is to save your file not as STARWARS.VDR but instead as STARWARS.VDR.avi so that your can then open that file in your MPEG2 encoder of choice, TMPGEnc Plus in my case. * THE FRAMESERVER MUST REMAIN OPEN AND RUNNING DURING YOUR ENCODE FOR THIS PROCESS TO WORK! *

Actually, TMPGEnc accepts AviSynth script (.AVS) files, so you don't need to use another frameserver.

You shouldn't run the "anamorphically corrected version" through it. If you plan to redo it, you should discard those files (or do everything in a new folder so you don't get confused between old and new files with similar names).

Just redo the whole process from scratch, except that when you run the original VOBs through DGIndex, you should use the "Forced Film" setting in the "Video -> Field Operation" menu.

Here is a DNS Lookup of MySpleen.com:http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/lookup.ch?name=myspleen.com&type=A

PeerGuardian lists it as: ServerBeach Emule Servers | P2P Fakes

Either add it to your custom allow list or pull up your history and you'll probably see it blocked a bunch. Right click and permanently allow.

Whenever I have trouble with a torrent site I always check for repeated hits to my BT port on PG2.
I'll then lookup the IP to find out if I'm blocking the server.

The strange thing is, PeerGuardian doesn't appear to be blocking the IP address you mentioned. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to live without MySpleen.

I've never tried it -- I just assumed that it could import a subtitle stream directly, but perhaps not...

Forced Film should not give you "sped up video" unless you change the framerate. I don't own the DVDs and I don't know if it's encoded at 29.97 or 23.976 fps, but here's a way to tell -- make sure "Honor Pulldown Flags" is set, and press F5 to preview the video. In the information window on the right, you should see "NTSC", "VIDEO ##%" or "FILM ##%". It might fluctuate drastically at the beginning, so wait a while till it's consistent. If it says "NTSC", it means the video is interlaced and encoded at 29.97 fps, and "Honor Pulldown Flags" is the correct setting. If it says "FILM" with a high percentage (about 90% or above), it means the video is progressively encoded at 23.976 fps, and you can use the "Forced Film" setting. DGIndex and MPEG2Source will then give you 23.976 fps video, so don't change the framerate to 29.97 or you'll have "sped up video".

Someone correct me if I said anything wrong.

I can almost never connect to the MySpleen tracker, for whatever reason (I'm using uTorrent) -- and I can't do anything about the port settings because I'm behind a college network. Bummer. (I don't usually have this problem with other trackers like Demonoid.)

No... cropping the video won't affect the subtitles since the subtitles aren't in the video

One way to avoid any "stretching" of the subtitles would be to hard-encode them by using the VobSub filter in AviSynth. (The drawback to that is that you won't be able to remove the subtitles, or change them to a different language.) Otherwise, you can always create new subtitles modeled after the old ones... I don't have much experience with creating subtitles so I'm sure others can help you better with that...

(I forgot about this part,damn)

I don't really understand your question... from previous online reports, the Greedo subs in ANH and presumably the Jabba subs in ROTJ are not burned in, so if you don't want them burned in, then you don't have to do anything...
