I agree - from what I've read I would say there will be a distinct difference. There's some interesting stuff about the transfers of Tideland (and the cropping that ensued) on www.smart.co.uk/dreams the Gilliam fanzine and advice from Gilliam as to which is his preferred!

and so if the tranfer is still warranted we return the the question... where does it stand?

still really looking forward to it...

I second that - would happily seed the first one as soon as I've downloaded it.

Also I had a thought - if the extras on the second disc are causing a problem could they be converted into dvd rom extras - I might be able to do something with them to give them a readable interface. Just a thought but whoever is currently dealing with it give me a shout if you think there is anything I can do.

Just wanted to say bdev - don't be too downhearted... I think sometimes when you are so close to any project you sometimes become extremely focussed on one particular detail and getting it right (especially when its bug-based). You're right - it probably woul dhave been nice to have it the way you envisaged it but to the majority of us the fact that we get to see the material at all through your efforts is just so good that it overwhelms any issues like numbers in the corner.

I've spent weeks bugfixing projects only to admit defeat on one aspect a have to do it in a certain way only to come back a year or two later and not be able to remember or even notice what the supposed 'bug' was!

You're nearly there - and I can hardly wait

I know I'm not the only one who appreciates all the crap you are putting yourself through.

The thanks are certainly well deserved - before I came across this thread I was considering buying a Laser Disc player just for Munchausen!

The irony is now I'm considering buying one to do transfers of other films...! Your Ghostbusters idea sounds interesting although there is always an audience for the more 'obscure' films. Munchausen isn't exactly the most popular film in the world let's face it

And the update is appreciated bdev - we all appreciate the effort you are putting in.

I connected using BitLord pretty much straight away and have downloaded 9% so far (have uploaded the same at least!!) will continue seeding throughout of course but I always use BitLord for torrents if that helps

Thanks for the help. Using a different client oother then bit tornado worked.

You are quite welcome!

I can't wait to get home and get it burned Also a side note a friend of mine suggested uTorrent is extremely good - used it for a couple of things today and it seems to be (at first glance at least) better than BitLord. Evilash - I would use one of these two clients as they will most likely work from a fresh install but it may be the case that you need an account... after a few days of the torrent being live on Demonoid you need to have an account to download.

Dunno if that is the case yet.

Am REALLY looking forward to the Munchausen one

inspired by this thread I have just finished wathcing Munchausen AGAIN and have just realised that it was Terry Gilliam and not the Wachowski Brothers who invented 'bullet time' just watch Berthold in the final act start running, he catches up with the bullet, grabs a piece of armour and redirects it away from the Baron... far more impressive than simply dodging the damn thing.

Neo - you should be embarrassed, you are positively slow in comparison to Berthold.

Have been a severe lurker for a long time but I think it's time to come out on this one - the Munchausen laserdisc is something I've long been looking for and never been able to afford. Have recently been reading a book called Losing the Light which is about all the problems that Gilliam was beset by throughout the filming - well worth a look if you haven't read it already.

At a recent press show for Brothers Grimm a journalist friend of mine got to speak to Gilliam, told him that it was (and is) my favourite film... Gilliam was suitably nice about the compliment and proceeded to sign a very old book from the 70's he did called Animations of Mortality. He drew a cartoon in it and signed it:
"To Adam,
Yellowed with age (not you - the book)
Terry Gilliam"

How happy was I?

Anyway excellent news on the LD transfer
