Where/How will you see TFA?
Time

I waited too long to get my tickets and all of the best theaters with assigned seating are pretty much taken unless I want to sit in the front row. I will be going on Saturday night at 7:45 PM in an IMAX 3D theater with first come first served seating and I plan to be there early. I would have rather seen it in 2D with Atmos sound but this was the next best option with what was left to choose from. Regardless, I am sure I will forget about all of that once the movie starts.

Star Wars GOUT in HD using super resolution algorithm (* unfinished project *)
Time

My 2 cents: I am confused about how the “After” was constructed (if it is SRV15 or not), but I am not a fan of the result. There are several issues: The darker part at the very top of the soldier’s helmet is removed; his mouth looks strange, the brightness (black level) of the image changed, and overall detail is reduced. It would be interesting to see the bluray of this scene in comparison to see how it is supposed to look.

To me, it's all about the journey and not so much about the end product, although it's nice to reach the end.  Can't multiple people do the encode in 10 minute chunks? Then agree on the best way to encode it so that one person can take all of the files and do one final splice together.

On a side note, I know we are all waiting and hoping for a perfect restoration of the original trilogy.  If we ever actually got it, the whole point of this site would sort of go away.  No more journey.  Although again, it would be nice to finally get it someday.

Looking at these on my better screen, I think SRV11 looks ever so slightly clearer and has the illusion of more detail due to the increased sharpening but it is also slightly increased halos and also the extra grain.  It would be nice to see the C3PO parts in motion with a back to back 3 second clips comparing V11 and V15.  Seeing the grain in motion will help determine whether it is best to keep it or get rid of it.

Color matching and prediction: color correction tool v1.3 released!
Time

For Star Wars, I like post 445 the best, but the new one isn't bad either.

For Temple of Doom, I wondered what it would look like if you made the area around the sprocket holes a white point and inside the mouth of the statue a black point for white balancing with Gimp, and this is how it looks:

Looks pretty great in that one screenshot, although it looks like the color or saturation is slightly less (not saying this is a bad thing).  The reduced noise seems like a good thing and it seems that the details are still there.  It also seems like with the lower sharpening that the halos aren't as obvious.  Can you post a bunch of the other standard screenshots comparing to V11?  My only concern is whether there is less 3D pop or not.  Great job!

Thanks for reposting 1.2 DrDre.  It's really awesome and fun to use!

Back to my previous question with Bruce Willis and using a different frame that doesn't line up properly, how did you use multiple different parts of the frame to build the color correction model?  With the tool, I could grab a small piece of skin or something white, etc. but I am not sure if that is the right approach.  Thanks!

The clip looks amazing to me.  Is it perfect?  Maybe not, but it is damn close!

I was wondering about something else.  If you have a publicity still that is a different shot than any frame in the movie but it is in the same place and time, can you still use it to fix the color (similar to the publicity shot you recently showed with the guy who gets choked)?  Also, a lot of scenes these days look like they were shot in a bottle of Windex (not talking about Star Wars).  Can this fix that problem if you have a publicity still that isn't doused in Windex?

This is an example of Windex: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/images/reviews/197/full/1371158749_1.png
