Great work! Could you please provide a link to V2? I can’t find it on the archive.

Here’s the Eglish DTS stereo mix from the German Turbine Blu-ray of the theatrical cut - my rip.
I can’t definitively state whether it’s the original theatrical mix, or a fold down of the 5.1 mix but perhaps someone can confirm.
I saw the file a number of years ago. The compression artefacts are such that it’s noticeably inferior to both the subsequent Blu-ray releases; the SkyNet edition (with egregious DNR) and the 2015 edition from Lionsgate (same master but much less DNR).
Good luck unlocking the file, but I’ll by a curio you won’t return to actually watch imho.
“Someone” 😦
Disney has said that all of their properties from the Vault will be on Disney+. There’s a possibility that Song of the South could be released on there. Maybe, or maybe not. Disney put out a ride based on the film, yet no official home release.
There’s no way in hell that SotS will be on a mainstream service such as Disney+. The only, only hope that film has is via the Disney Movie Club… and even then I would be SHOCKED.
It’s good old uncompressed PCM Dolby Surround, not AC3. 5.1 wasn’t a thing yet when the film was re-released in 1990.
Ah of course. I guess it was nearly 30 years ago. Would be really grateful if you can help out with that element. No rush, just when you have the time. Thankyou!
Very interested in your project class316 - I was considering doing something myself there too as I’d just got a hold of the 35mm sunflower footage. I’m a bit of a novice though.
Silverwook - if you do manage to get the AC3 transferred, could I please trouble you for a copy as well? I’d really appreciate it!
Cheers
B
It’s a shame that MySpleen wouldn’t allow this to be uploaded. They’re generally very scared of Disney’s litigious nature. I guess I don’tblame them.
Have been hoping for a Blutopia invite for a while, but I’m pretty sure it’s looked down upon to shill for an invite. But if anyone is feeling generous this holiday season… 😃
Amazing to think that nearly 40 years on, we’re still getting nuggets like this released into the wild. Thanks for all involved who made this happen.
Would like to make a modest contribution. Poita - you have a PM.
The 1.33:1 version is open matte, not cropped (film was shot in 35mm 4 perf). And the deleted scenes are in (open matte) 1.50:1 (16:10), not 1.85:1. However, the deleted scenes have the original colour timing of the 35mm photochemical prints, since they are direct scans from the film reels.
Thankyou for the correction. You’re quite right.
Really looking forward to seeing this.
Has anyone checked out the 4K restoration that’s currently available on iTunes?
The HBO broadcast was cropped 1.33:1 but properly colour timed, and the footage matched that of the movie proper. However, also limited to VHS resolution.
The deleted scenes on the DVD (the same released worldwide) are 1.85:1 OAR, but in bad shape, with lots of film artefacts.
Unfortunately, I doubt either sources will splice very well to a proper restoration.

Nice job. I totally recognize the parts that I did vs the parts that I didn't. My scanner started having problems which is why I stopped working on mine. I did get it working with my DSLR camera, but never kept going at that point. Maybe someday I will finish my version.
Thanks Thorr - I'm really honoured you took the time to comment, seeing as you really were the inspiration for this reconstruction. Thanks for all your efforts.

Love it! Great work! These are the trailers I grew up on, so I'm rather fond of them. However, the Trailer D link does not seem to be working for me... Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the kind words. I've just updated the link, sorry about that.
Hi all,
Longtime lurker, first time poster. Happy to finally have something to share after taking so much.
I've been wanting to reconstruct the U.S. style Special Edition trailers for some time from scanned 35mm assets, and now have the first version to share with you.
The sources for each trailer are predominantly the German 35mm files uploaded by Laserschwert (see here), Thor's 35mm sample (see here), upscaled logos from SD trailers and muxed with Jetrell Fo's 5.1 DTS audio mix.
Some Photoshop touch up was done to some of the worst film artefacts, and to blend the different sources. Edited in PP CS6.
Please provide feedback on these initial versions.

Enjoy.
