It sounds amazing to my ears! And that transition is pretty spot on. You’ve done great work

Sounds like a great outline. Still haven’t brought myself to finish season 2 so I’m looking forward to what you put together for your edit. Any chance you’ll have something ready before s3 releases?
Registering for the starwarstrilogy forums doesn’t seem to be working for me either. I’ll enter everything including the invite code and then it will take me back to an empty registration page
Well, I watched your previous v2 edit of Book 5 tonight and thought it was fantastic. Very glad that’s the direction you seem to be heading toward for v4. Could definitely be tightened up quite a bit – it drags at the 2:24 runtime. Will you be building off your v2 for the next update or starting fresh? If you’re going back to v2, I can offer some more extensive feedback
Also… Loving all the updates you’ve done on books 1-4. Only complaint is those runtimes. I know you aren’t willing to go sub 2 hours but I think all these edits could be much quicker/better paced. But I suppose that’s my personal preference 🤷♂️
Yes, that’s a great idea. If you can figure out a way to do it without taking red away from the rest of the scene (making Kanan’s jacket tan instead of green) it would be flawless. Probably not a big deal if the scene is isolated, but if it cuts from green to tan back to green, it could be distracting
I’ll happily take the link for the updated book 4!
Okay, I think I’ve finally cracked it. (But we’ll see what you all think first)
That’s a lot better! Nicely done
Checking out your ep 1 update, that wipe works SO much better than the fade. Very nice 😎. I think the music transition there is still off, though. The inquisitor scene’s music lasts for just a little bit too long before fading out. What I’ve done before for wipe transitions is to either have the music fade right when the scene transitions (as long as it doesn’t cut off any melody), or accompany the transition with a subtle sfx.
We are live on IFDB! 😄
Nice! Congrats 🥳
Still waiting for an updated book 3 link. Was hoping to watch it tonight so I’ll take it from anyone 😅
Love a good TLJ edit. Your ideas sound really great. I would be willing to do a crawl for you if you’d like. Here’s one I made for the original (based on digimodification’s custom crawl creator).
I’d just give you a transparent .mov you should be able to drag and drop over a freeze frame of the starscape
Great to see you back in full swing. Your Mando edits are the best I’ve seen. (Which btw I’d love to have the updated book 1 if you don’t mind sending a link my way)
And enjoy Witcher 3! What I’d give to play that for the first time again
Okay, for my sources, the right speaker comes out of the left surround sound speaker and vice versa. (Likely a mistake made by me during the ripping process) Which explains the sound being heavier on the left.
This was incorrect… No issues with my source as far as I can tell… but that being said,
this audio business is being an absolute nightmare for me because when I check it on my TV with a 5.1 surround sound setup, everything is coming through the correct channels (telling me everything is indeed fine with the audio) but when I listen to the edit via VLC on my PC it’s left leaning… (That being said, it also sounds like my headset is left leaning also… so it’s been difficult for me to judge if I’m achieving anything).
I’ve read on Reddit that this could be a problem with VLC for 5.1 media… Kestrel how are you watching my edit? And does anyone else have this problem?
This was from streaming it on gdrive and then playing it through davinci, as well. Playing it on VLC actually seems to be OK 🤷♂️. So if no one else is having issues with it and it’s too much of a headache to figure out, then I wouldn’t worry too much more about it.
Do you have any tips on how to resolve this? I’ve been teaching myself this editing business from the group up with this edit hahaha. In Premiere Pro’s timeline my audio is split into 3 stereo tracks (due to previous mistakes)… so it definitely could be a mistake there… or is it something to do with how I render the files?
Oh, I am also self taught 😅. It was an issue I encountered when working in Davinci Resolve so I’m not sure how much I can help with Premiere. Here’s something I just found while trying to make sense of things:
https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=141592
In, Davinci, each audio track has a type drop-down where you can select 2.0, 5.1, etc, and one of the options is 5.1F because sometimes the channel layouts for surround sound differ. I think the default 5.1 is Left, Right, Center, Sub, Left rear, Right rear. But it turns out different codecs use different layouts.
So I guess I would start by seeing if Premiere has something equivalent to change your audio track type. And if not, then check your source’s audio codec and make sure your output matches. Hope that helps!
The transition itself is exactly what the show does, I’ve simply moved it to another scene. I agree the music stops a bit abruptly but without a rescore I’m not sure there is much I can do to resolve that… I might come back and look into it again after I’ve given the other seasons some more polish.
Well my advice, if it’s worth anything, would be to prioritize perfecting that as it’s one of your very first opening scenes. That’s like your first impression and I’m not the first person I’ve seen to critique it ITT. I think given the importance of Rebels to the new canon, an edit of your caliber is absolutely essential so I’m really rooting for you!
Just finished the first episode of this and wanted say outstanding work! Really well done, i really enjoyed it
Right off the bat in ep 1, a couple things:
-The audio seems to be favoring the left side. This has happened to me when the audio layout is wrong in my timeline (5.1 and 5.1F have different layouts). That would be my suspicion.
-The transition at the beginning from the inquisitor to Ezra doesn’t work at all. It looks like a cross-fade and a hard cut put together and the music stops too abruptly.
The rest of it seems really good! I like the color grade you did. That and all the cuts you made make it feel a lot less kiddy.
Well, I’m probably going to take a break from this for a bit but that is some amazing feedback! I will definitely take every point into consideration. I watched it through with my brother (a big Filoni hater, couldn’t get through the first episode lol), and he also said the character he was the most invested in and liked the most was Ezra. So for an eventual v2 release, I’ll see what else can be cut so we can get more Ezra. 👍 I might toy around with reinstating the raiders so I can keep that conversation between Shin and Baylan while they’re tracking instead of the one on top of the fortress, as well as Ezra force-fighting later on.
The thinking behind cutting so much of Ezra is that the core of this story is really Sabine and Ahsoka. The third act already stays for too long and I wanted to keep it moving. And I figured a lot this will be setup for Ezra’s own eventual movie so I wanted to be careful to not let him outshine everyone else. But I guess he will no matter what so who am I to resist popular demand!
As for the “glitch,” there are actually two! Instead of Sabine taking a full minute to rotate each side, I opted for a couple jump cuts. Maybe some cross-dissolves might ease those cuts? Tho that might look more out of place. I can see how that can be distracting though, I wasn’t sure about them myself.
And then the fan-edit moment. There is a very brief scene right before Baylan destroys the map where Huyang fixes the comms and messages Hera for assisstance and she says “copy that.” I get how it can be missed but no one in my viewing noticed anything wrong so I’ll probably leave it be since it keeps things moving. But if you have ideas to make that more clear without adding too much, I am open!
Again, thank you for the extensive feedback! It’s both helpful and encouraging. 😃
Still don’t have a link… wah! Pretty please!
Oh, I thought I sent one! PM me if you don’t see it

Review from over on reddit.
Just finished this and it is an incredible change from watching the Disney version. Your version is the one to watch and honestly, I found no errors in editing or bad changes you made. So thank you for sharing this edit and you made this something that was actually enjoyable instead of that drag of a series.
There was an error in the final render. Reuploading now!
Alright, the files are still uploading (and I’m sure gdrive will take its sweet time to process them before they are able to be streamed), but v1 is released! Here is the difference between v0 and v1 for anyone interested. Both versions are still being uploaded but will be available at the same gdrive link as before.
The final runtime is 2:53:26 which I am pretty happy with for the amount of content I left in.

I replied to your PM so apologies for posting again here but want to make sure this is seen.
Does anyone have access to the v2 book 5 that contains only BoBF content? I was hoping to watch these edits up to s3 content and view a different edit for that. Would be much appreciated
Then you have to worry about lip-syncing though
Also… I would love a link to view this edit!
Oh yes. Inspiration just struck me.
