It's not my stuff. My house isn't big enough for dead video formats as it is. ;)

I knew a guy with one of those big dishes in his backyard when I was in college. He apparently saw a lot interesting stuff on those live feeds.

Are those big dishes still usable in this crazy digital age?

The Big Dishes are sill alive and in fact there are still quite a bit of raw feeds and a lot of programming. The the receivers are inexpensive and have HiDef with the latest video codecs, They have hard drive and memory card storage for recording and but it takes a lot of patience to get set up the programs are scattered all over the sky.  It is a niche market now more then ever.

I had to do the same thing when I sold my home in the SF Bay area. I had over 6000 titles. Most of them from Satellite broadcast off of my Big Dish from the early 80's and later on in to the 90's before I got a DVD recorder.

I tried to back up as much as I could but I just didn't have enough time. I gave away what I could but most of it went to a recycle center that had a special drop box for magnetic media. The sad part was some of the stuff was raw footage from live broadcast news and sporting events. The back haul feeds to the networks.  When the networks would cut away for commercials the camera and mike was still on and sending the signal to the networks. You would see hear all kinds of things that were not meant for public viewing.  I hope your stuff finds a good home and the good stuff ends up on the spleen!

There are an abundance of seeders on Blu at the moment and the speed is top notch.  I used tsMuxer the other night and switched the .mkv file to a BD folder structure just fine. I'm going to try my hand at switching out both the Uncensored film and short this week using the instructions posted earlier in the thread.

Thanks so much for making this available Suntech, and thanks to Space Kaijuu and everyone else that pieced this film back together!

I am glad to contribute again, it had been a long time since I did.

It's listed on BT... no seeders though.  You'll have to leave the program up and running until a few folks can snag it.  Maybe you can talk with vinnie and see if he'd put it on a seedbox for you?  I appreciate the effort.  The file you uploaded is 24.9gb which from my experience requires a bd-50 to burn it.  24.3 is the max amount of data I've ever successfully burned to a BD-25.  Either way, I appreciate the effort.

I don't particularly like mkv files. I  have never had any luck extracting from mkv containers. Last fall this was the only version I could find. I realize now that I got it from the spleen just before they deleted it.

IIRC the full version wasn't MKV, but a BD50 disc instead.

It's not on Myspleen anymore, I don't know why. The uploader was Myspleen user JunkersHVN, you can send him a message.

Keep a look out on the site that is Blu

If this shows up on the BT I'll be sure to grab it and help seed it as well.  I'm interested in a full BD-50, but not so much the smaller file.  It'd make a nice addition to the official release.  Sort of an unofficial "Directors Cut" disk 2.

Some one asked for the 25gb mkv file, I know it exists, because I got it. I don't remember where.  I give up trying to help out tried to up it at a certain Blu site, but the more I try to get it out there the more problems I have.  I am going to call it a day.  I am done Got better things to do with my time.

As much as I would like to, I do not have the capability to seed right now And burning 25 gb Blu-ray copies for everyone who asks is time and cost prohibited. Any one have an alternative?

I hope I am not violating any rules here I so please let me know and I will delete this post. Looking to try to get this seeded on a certain organ, can not seem to find a way to contact the admin of that site to ask permission to get it back on that site. If any one has an idea please P.M. me

Info: James Bond - Laserdisc Preservations: 1962-1971

A new used music/movie store opened up near my house...  and they had a ton of laserdiscs for super cheap.  Two of my finds were Bond films:

Thunderball - ML 101564

GoldenEye - ML 105544

Got these things for  $1 USD apiece!  Unfortunately, I do not have a laserdisc player so I cannot watch them, but at least I have 'em in my collection.

Some of the first laserdiscs I've ever owned!  :-D

 Congratulations on your new addiction!

Is there a consensus that there is "green" in the BR?

It's not so much needing a consensus as it is using Kubrick's own participation in the remastering process for this Criterion Collection laserdisc (see the OP). DVDBeaver's comparative look demonstrates that the color of the various releases are all over the map and something like a Kubrick-approved remaster is what's needed -- also reflected in PDB's comparative screenshots on page 4.

BTW, that was a good link but captainsolo beat you to it (also page 4).

.

I move that we require 2001: A Space Odyssey to be viewed by sitting in chair from Stanley Kubrick's 1960's futuristic film of the past (2001). So better start saving up (only £750.00) ..

"Authentic Oliver Mourgue Djinn Sofa Airborne International 2001 space odyssey"
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Authentic-Oliver-Mourgue-Djinn-Sofa-Airborne-International-2001-space-odyssey-/301467811337

The funny thing is ... this was contemporary furniture available at the time the movie was made and actually purchased for use in same. I hope that doesn't blow anyone's mind ...  :)

Better that chair then the way Malcolm MacDowell's Alex's aversion therapy chair in "A Clockwork Orange"

Info Thread: 3D Movies Preservation

Hi, I looked and could only find references to Flesh for Frankenstein (1973) 3D. Is that what you meant? Either way, Blood For Dracula 3D sounds awesome.

Andy Warhol"S Presentation of Paul Morrissey' s Blood For Dracula Was originally done in 3D. You needed polarized glasses for viewing it. It is a shame that it hasn't been released in 3D Blu Ray.  I would go out and get a new 3D Flatscreen just for that.

Well it was 40 years ago or so when I saw it at a theater, so yes it was Flesh for Frankenstein  in 3D.  But you know Warhol, all his stuff looks alike ;). They both were fun movies to watch at a Midnight Show.
