NJVC Custom Blu-ray Set of Harmy’s Despecialized Editions now available on Mega
Time

To any of the many people who have successfully set up proboard accounts, did anybody run into the problems people are describing in the last few pages?

I created a second account so I could sign in as a non-administrator and see if it caused me any problems, with the hopes that it would, and I could use the experience to help those with similar issues.

But it did not, other than making me type the chosen password rather than copy and paste it. So I’m not sure if there is some other obstacle, for which I should include advice in the guide, that I’m missing.

If you had similar problems to what people are describing when setting up your proboard account, but were able to find a way around them, a post on this thread or a PM to me would be welcome. That way I could update the guide in the first post, and make it even easier (but not TOO easy) to acquire the NJVC sets.

Do you still believe that 2.5 will be out by the time Solo releases?

I would doubt it, but that would be beyond awesome!

How much you wanna bet Harmy is doing Roto work on Solo?

Exactly the same sentiment as above.
(Edit: And it still will be, even if the movie itself turns out to be less than appealing.)

So, I am interested in how these discs were created. I am planning on delving into the Blu-ray creation side of things. I am assuming NJVC isn’t re-encoding the files, so how is he authoring these discs without losing quality? I have found very little on replacing M2TS files in Blu-rays created using Encore. If this is the method, how exactly did he go about doing that?

Hi Jackpumpkinhead,

I wish I could help you out. As far as actual manipulation of digital media files, my skills are fairly amateur. In fact, that’s one of the reasons I posted the guide to getting and burning the NJVC sets in the first place. It took a while for me to decipher it all, and once I did, and was able to share the files, I figured I could help streamline the process for others like me who might find it difficult.

I don’t actually know NJVC or anyone else on this site aside from what they write in posts and PMs. I’ve also not had any collaborative hand in any of the amazing video restoration, editing, or re-authoring that is happening here, so I have very little information on how it was actually done.

I’m just helping to pass out copies. 😃

You might try posting on NJVC’s thread, or messaging him yourself.

Or there are also several other members here who seem like they are pretty versed in disc authoring techniques.

If you peruse the “How-To’s and Technical Discussions” section of the site, you’ll see several names that pop up a lot. You might also try posting on one of their threads and/or PM’ing them. Someone will surely be willing and able to help.

By the way, on another note, your box set design is just about the perfect template for what I’m putting together. I’m planning on re-building my own from scratch, but I’m mimicking almost all of your design elements, only tweaking a few things here and there for personal taste.

And your guide to outer box construction has already helped tremendously in constructing my own.

If I ever get around to posting pictures, files, and/or how-tos for my set, I plan on sending a lot of credit your way. So thank you for your work!

Best of luck finding the help you’re seeking!

I was talking About the Bonus Discs with Menus on it for these

OPTIONAL BONUS DISCS (fanedits)

  1. STAR WARS: Adywan’s Star Wars Revisited (DVD5)
  2. THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK: njvc’s Pulp Empire (BD25)
  3. RETURN OF THE JEDI: TMBTM’s War of the Stars Parts I&II (DVD9)

I just hope that njvc finds them too. Also, Have someone been friends with njvc too? Thanks.

As far as I know, ISOs with menus for those edits do not exist.

However, there are ways to just straight burn them to discs. If you did that, they would just begin playing the feature straightaway when you put the finished disc into your DVD, Blu-ray, or UHD player.

Not as stylish, but it would work.

Look around this site or the internet at large and you’ll find plenty of ways to do that.

Needing help muxing subtitles into the DVD5 DE's
Time

Thanks CatBus!

No worries about the delay, as attempting to get the DVDs with subtitles has always been tertiary to almost everything else at which I have already succeeded.

Now that I have a few more details, I’ll see how far that gets me!

Incidentally, if I follow the procedure above, will the chapter stops be preserved?

If not, after merging, extracting, and remuxing the new VOB files, is there a way to re-add the chapter stops?

Possibly similarly to the way mkvtoolnix can edit chapter stops on MKVs?

Thank you again!

Also, can I edit Special Features and Menus also, I’m still confused and don’t know that the right covers and stuff I should get?

Are you talking about editing the cover art or the menus and features that play from the blu-ray? You can edit covers however you like with photo editing software. As far as editing menus, no, you’d have to rebuild the whole ISO from the ground up to do that.

Teddy Furstman said:

I should also know if I should get the Offical Versions first since I don’t like to Download Illegally and If I could Download these babies without getting into trouble.

This is on the honor system. Technically, none of these edits are legitimate when it comes to copyright. Since the 1977, 1980, and 1983 films have been suppressed, these are the only way to get high quality copies. But nobody here wants to be a thief, which is why we ask that you buy the versions that are available, which were also the primary source for a large chunk of the footage.

wish I could get a BD drive, 50GB BD discs, Clear Cases and Durable glassy Paper Inserts. I’m also lazy and is Unmotivated to do such long hard work just to get these things.

You know you don’t have to burn these downloads to watch them as if they were playing from a disc if you don’t want to. Look at the note on step 10 of the guide in the first post of this thread. It says:

ISO files are the digital images of the videos and file structures to be burned to the blu-ray disc, but it is not necessary to burn the ISOs to discs to view them. You can mount the file as a virtual drive to have your computer view the file as if it were a disc in a drive. Here is an article on how to do that in Windows. The process is even simpler in Mac OS.

The stand-alone versions of the Despecialized Editions are also still readily available and even simpler to watch. Do you need any help figuring out how to get them?

Teddy Furstman said:

UPDATE:
Also, Would The Documentaries Discs work with 50gb Blu-Rays? Just Asking.

Of course! You would just end up with about half the space on the disc unused. But if you have 50gb Blu-Rays available for all six discs, that would work fine!

Star Wars Despecialized Editions - Custom Bluray Set (Released)
Time

I don’t know if anyone ever worked up a Pulp Empire Disc ISO with menus and such, though I could be mistaken.

But I can send you a link to download just the movie file. I will have to send you that in a private message (PM for short), however, as download links are not allowed in the public threads.

Teddy Furstman said:

Also, I love to see an easy way to getting this set to be perfect without messing it up.

As far as that goes, can you be a little more specific? Are you wanting help with downloading, what kind of discs to use, burning, what kind of cases to use, printing art for cases, or printing art on discs? Or perhaps something else?

Hi Teddy Furstman,

The files are too huge for a straight download link. Plus, making it that easy would probably get us in a lot of trouble with the studios. You have to download them pieces at a time.

So to download and burn these six Blu-ray discs…

Star Wars
     (needs a 50 GB Disc)
Star Wars Documentaries
     (needs a 25 GB Disc)
Empire Strikes Back
     (needs a 50 GB Disc)
Empire Strikes Back Documentaries
     (needs a 25 GB Disc)
Return Of The Jedi
     (needs a 50 GB Disc)
Return Of The Jedi Documentaries
     (needs a 50 GB Disc),

…you first need to download the all the pieces.

To do that you need a list of the links to those pieces.

To get that list, carefully follow the instructions in the first post of this thread, step by step.

Best of luck!

Hey Tsunamijhoe,

I’m planning on keeping these up indefinitely, so there’s no rush. In all honesty, I’m not sure if upgrading your accout would be enough to bypass the 5 gig limit, since all my stuff is posted for free.

It might be worth it to try. The plans start at only about $5 a month, and you don’t have to renew when your month is up.

Otherwise, download 10 files, wait 6-8 hours, download another 10, repeat until finished.
