Adywan’s distribution system seems to work pretty well - I haven’t seen much complaining from people not being able to get ESB:R.

TV’s Frink said:

Mega has a much easier learning curve than torrents and by using Facebook he’s bypassing all the requests for invites.

So does this mean that the plan for now will probably be to start using a Facebook post as a platform for distribution of links as Adywan has done with his “Revisited” work?

That’s cool and all, but I am a little worried about Facebook maybe not being the best place for it. I mean section 5 of their terms of service is all about copyright. And Facebook is pretty mainstream. Tehparadox always seemed much more fittingly obscure. Might that end up drawing too much attention?

Thoughts?

Sorry, couldn’t resist.

But in all seriousness, I really hope there will continue to be file locker links maintained. I am sure there are many like me that just don’t like the idea of using their computer’s resources to seed torrents, and also those who might be OK with the idea but who would have difficulty with the technical side of it. For them (or rather, us) direct links work much better even if they are way slower. But with tehparadox gone, the question becomes where to keep them.

Hi phildesfr,

The designs you’re producing are amazing!

A Few questions for you and for anyone else reading.

To phildesfr: What photo editing software you are using?

To anyone: Is there a free photo editing program that will recognize the logos saved as eps image files in phildesfr’s assets?

and

Can anyone recommend a free way to crop images so they can be used for disc art (i.e. circular picture crop with properly sized and centered circle cropped from the middle as well)?

Hello to all on the Original trilogy forums. I’m a new member, but an old follower. I would first like to thank Harmy for creating this project. In turn you are bringing many star wars fans together in the process.

Quick question if anyone could help me. I had downloaded DeEd v2.5, ESB 2.0 and ROTJ 1.0 years ago on my old PC (using the torrent method). I have since gotten a new PC, and am considering doing either the Uloz or multi .rar method (as detailed in TUIG) this time around to update my DeEd collection.

I was wondering if anyone on this thread is using either of these methods, and if so what was your experience with them? (i.e. were there any problems you had encountered doing it this way, did you use the exact programs as said in TUIG, etc.).

Welcome to the forum OGSpark!

I had no trouble with the downloads other than the time it took because of their size.

I did run into some errors trying to extract them using the Peazip program described in the latest version of TUIG. If that happens to you, you can try using the JDownloader 2 program that used to be in TUIG 4.0 for its extraction function as well as it’s downloading function. That worked for me. Here’s a link to a piece of that older version of TUIG, which has clean links to JDownloader 2:

https://goo.gl/F8GLpz

Also, tehparadox doesn’t seem to work anymore, but at least for now, you can still find lists of the file download links you’ll need here:

https://goo.gl/5Sif60

By the way, even though a Manual Download method is available, I personally still recommend the Multipart method. Since the files are in smaller pieces, there’s less ground to make up if one of them glitches right before it can finish downloading. But that is just my own opinion. Both methods do work.

Good luck!

Info Wanted: Some questions about the Silver Screen Edition(s)
Time

I have versions MKV 1.0, BD 50 1.6, and DVD5 1.6 of the SW:SSE, from links obtained from tehparadox.

But that site seems to be gone for good now.

I seem to remember, before TN1 disbanded, reading somewhere like this:

http://tinyurl.com/ybnm9kcu

that they had completed silverscreen versions of ESB and ROTJ as well, but I’m not sure if memory serves correctly.

I combed the “Star Wars Preservations and Other Fan Projects” category thread titles for keywords “silver” and “negative”. Several hits, but none that led to what I was looking for.

If ESB:SSE and ROTJ:SSE do exist, can someone point me in a direction other than Myspleen or torrents?

I’m willing to jump through hoops just as I did in acquiring the DE’s and the SW:SSE’s.

But I’m refraining from requesting any invites anywhere because I don’t think I would make a good torrenter and I’m honest enough to be up front about it.

(See what I mean in my converstation here: http://tinyurl.com/ydz38yg4)

If anyone could post or PM me, I’d appreciate it.

Thanks!

Yeah, I think those are going to be your best bet. If connection speed is an issue, using the multi-rar method instead of the manual method will help, since you can obtain the projects in smaller pieces. It will still take forever, but at least a download that might glitch at 99% will only cost you minutes instead of hours.

Just have persistence and patience. You can find what you seek without torrents.

Also, you’ve probably already found this guide (https://goo.gl/1WGHBA) and this list of download links (https://goo.gl/5Sif60), but here they are again just in case you haven’t.

Use a VPN and MegaSync, and when the limit occours, disconnect and reconnect (always through VPN) to get a new IP, and no waiting time.

Thank you ^…^!

But if I use a free VPN, wouldn’t that just result in the VPN service putting a limit on downloads instead of mega?

Or can you reccomend a free client that has bandwidth limits generous enough to make it worth it?

Or perhaps you only need to use the VPN to get the new IP address, and then go back to using your regular connection?

Thanks for the help!

Info: Is there a set wait time on mega's 5 GB download limit (or a workaround)?
Time

I have several projects that I recently imported to my free mega account that I’m going to be downloading, but mega is now imposing a 5 GB download limit.

I’m pretty much resigned to just being patient and downloading parts of file groups at a time. But it would be nice if I knew there was a set time for the delay. That way I wouldn’t end up waiting longer than necessary but also wouldn’t get my timer reset if I jump in again too early. Does anyone know if there is such a set time?

That said, does anyone have an easy workaround that will work with Jdownloader 2, FreeRapid Downloader, or MegaDownloader?

I’d rather not use Internet Download Manager, as it messes with browser defaults, and I’m not going to meddle with the Command Prompt or the IP address, as I only really know enough to know that I could really mess things up if I made a mistake.

But if anybody has any other suggestions, I’m all ears. 😃

Thanks!

When using Winzip during unzipping it stops about 75% through and says the file is corrupted. However, as I stated previously, the movie plays fine but you cannot skip chapters. There is no readme file.

Hey m, did you ever get your corrupted download issue resolved?

When extracting the rars, I remember running into a similar problem. However, I had used JDownloader 2 as a download manager as per TUIG 4.0. Since that program had an extract function, I tried using it instead, and it worked fine. You might try that. You can find clean links to JDownloader 2 posted here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Z_Br2jXGay6XfTeM_P0pDKGkXt2-coSd5IXeYD06_pk/pub

If that doesn’t help, here’s another question. Did you use the multipart or manual rar download method?

If you used the multipart, and there are just a few rars that seem to be the problem, I could send you a PM with some alternate mega.nz links for whatever parts you need. They are exactly the same files as retrieved from the Uloz.to links and they worked fine for me. But I re-saved them to my account, so if there is a problem with the originals, you’d still have a source for working copies. Just let me know.

And though I don’t have copies of the manual rars, I hope some of that helps!

That’s probably true, but I’m assuming Captain_Danielsan doesn’t have access to a GOUT disc. And oojason left this note at the bottom of his Star Wars post:

oojason said:

Chapters 24 & 44 were Chapter Titles with names from the Special Editions (‘Jabba The Hutt’ & ‘Luke & Biggs’) - my copy of Harmy’s DeSE didn’t have Chapter Titles so I just made them up for Chapters 24 & 44 - just a heads-up).

Hi guys, does anyone have a list of suggested names for each chapter break in the de’s of sw,esb and jedi? I have looked around but cant find anything. I can happily insert my own chosen names into AVCHD i just wondered if anyone had made some up. Thanks.

“Star Wars” chapter titles and stops:

“Empire Strikes Back” chapter titles and stops:

“Return Of The Jedi” chapter titles and stops:
http://originaltrilogy.com/post/id/906586

These are about as close to official as you can get. Most of the titles come from the official Blu-rays, but have been tweaked a bit by oojason to account for differences between the official releases and the Despecialized Edition. Hope that helps!

Well fooey.

I suspected the way I was considering using the torrents would be considered “hit and running” and therefore not cool. But now that I know, I’ll refrain from seeking any private torrent invite, since I don’t think I’ll change my mind.

I’ll just have to hoard from here forward! 😉

To change the subject back to SW specifically, I noticed today in the 2.5 version that the focus goes pretty soft during the first shot of Alderaan from the Death Star Bridge between 54:36-54:41. Is that because that’s one of the upscaled GOUT shots?

I am and always have been fascinated with cultural history and its preservation. But I wouldn’t have called myself a digital hoarder or a Star Wars purist until about a year and a half ago.

But in the lead up to TFA, I set out to purchase copies of the OOT on DVD. I’d just never gotten around to replacing the VHS copies I got rid of as a kid. I was horrified to learn that they didn’t exist outside of GOUT.

I’d seen all the Special Editions in theaters as a teenager, and actually enjoyed them a lot … but as novelties, not culturally relevant films. Like how pop art versions of the Mona Lisa are all well and good, but they will never be as culturally relevant as the original.

I’d always assumed both versions were available! But I think having that rug pulled out from under me turned me into a hoarder once I realized fan edits and unofficial restorations were the closest I would get to the originals.

So if anyone can think of a way for me to get those earlier versions of the DEEDs outside of torrents, a pm would be much appreciated.

Otherwise, if I decide to attempt to acquire a myspeen invite, I’d need to get in line at the link below, correct?:

Isn’t myspleen a torrent tracker site, albeit a private one?

If I may quote from HanDuet’s guide, I thought it was “Practically impossible to obtain invite to private tracker.”

I might consider it if I had an invite, but I don’t expect one.

Besides, I don’t think I like the idea of seeding files from my pc, so it wouldn’t seem very considerate to only leech.

Hello all. I’ve asked about different versions of the Despecialized Editions a few times before. Now I have a possibly silly question. Has anyone made an effort to preserve copies of the DE that are now obsolete?

The reason I ask is because I’m so impressed by all work you are doing, it seems like kind of a shame to scrap the earlier versions. They would show the progress you’ve all made in your work over the years.

I think I would even be interested in saving, in addition to the current versions, sets of the rars from respective three versions of SW 1.0, 2.0, ESB 1.0, & ROTJ 1.0 to data DVD-DL sets just for preservation’s sake. However, I don’t want to use torrents because of the security risks they involve.

If anyone could point me towards a source of links to those four older versions that doesn’t involve torrents that would be awesome!

And even if not, thanks again for all your hard work! 😃

Perhaps the lower resolution copy I have will one day be a collector’s item.

But that probably won’t happen until USB drives are obsolete. 😉
