A few weeks ago I edited something together but never posted it. Here’s my take on the final act. I would make a few changes to this but I think this gets an idea of how the climax could feel. This was heavily based on one of RogueLeader’s posts.

Notes: Some of the audio transitions are very rough and I’m not happy with the transitions after the Gungan retreat and after the Queen is brought to Nute.

I thought this would be nice to make so that you could remove the Droid joke beat at the end of the battle without losing too much running time/making the pacing a little strange. I did all the sound design for the new shots and im very happy with it ^_^

I feel like I don’t want to have the planet explode at the end, just the ‘First Order Base’ part of it? idk lol. Part of the victory at the end is that that base is no longer usable for the First Order

So! The movie is: The Resistance, fearing the rise of the First Order, seeks Luke Skywalker who they believe will save the day. The First Order manages to destroy the Senate of the New Republic, effectively cutting the head off of any outside help the Resistance could rely on. However, our heroes manage to locate Skywalker, leading to new hope, the end!

I want to start working on a crawl that could help hammer home that the Resistance has these two goals

Now, I really don’t know how to handle the Resistance briefing scene. All I’ve managed to do is change Poe’s line from “Lower the shield, destroy that oscillator, and blow up their big gun” to “…blow up their base”

Here’s kind of a proof of concept of the Dreadnaught destroying the Senate. I don’t know where in the movie this would fit, but i sure am making shots lol.

The First Order havent fully revealed themselves to the galaxy, and its in the Resistance’s best interest to destroy them before they deploy. The oscillator is the power system for the base and destroying it would blow up the base, which would cripple the First Order. Maybe the mining of the planet could be used to imply that the planet’s the source of all the Star Destroyers also.

Perhaps the scene where the Hosnian system is destroyed could be recontectualized to be an attack from a First Order Dreadnaught.

I’ve been toying around with removing the superweapon aspect of Force Awakens altogether. Hopefully I can get something working : )

Work in progress shot!

I’m having a lot of trouble with the chroma key on the Star Destroyer (because the free program I use doesn’t have chroma key.) Does anyone have any suggestions for this?

I could render out my background plate (with moving waterfalls and clouds) and have someone else comp in the destroyer?
