Remake the OT?
Time
The real problem with adding CGI additions to the OT, is that the plates are over 25 years old. Therefore ANY addition is going to look out-of-place, If GL started from scrach and made a complete re-make of the OT, and thus would be able touse CG more, if would be more consistent with itself, instead of having CG from 2004 and Rubber/Anamtronics from 1977/80/3 which would not mesh together in a beleivable way. The biggest problem with the Han/Jabba scene, if that it is so incostent in visual quality, that it destroys the suspension of disbelief that would otherwise be present, due to the obvious visual differences. That, and that the eye-lines are completely FUBAR.

It really would be better for a complete re-make of the OT than to keep trying to clean up 26 year old film.

This is an idea to please everyone, from those who want the OT and the PT to have continuity and consistency, and those who want to preserve the originals.

Just have GL do re-makes of the OT with CG, Ewan McGregor and the benefits of modern film technology.

Might be interesting to see, and bring some nice consistency to the whole saga as well. And would keep the OT from being furthered altered.

I played the demo for that, the one that shipped with the Official DVD's. Not too shabby, I consider it to be "Battlefeild: A long time ago" because it plays exactly like Battlefeild: 1942. Which isn't exactly a bad thing.

I did lose in the demo, because I kept shooting Ewoks (The demo level is on Endor). I wish I didn't suck so bad at The Star Wars Trilogy Arcade Game. But, I loved Rogue Squadron and SotE for my old N64. (which still works).

But, Halo 2 has been sucking my life up, a lot.

Got the DVDs Today
Time
Before I bought the DVD set, the only copy of Star Wars I had, was the SE of ANH, which was taped off a television broadcast. I also had the OT of ANH, which was taped, and cut off from the tape limit right as the battle of Yavin started.

I had only seen the OT of empire and jedi, once beforehand. On rental VHS tapes. They had the interviews in the front.

It wasn't until I bought that DVDs that I saw the SE changes to them.

But in terms of quality, the film looks like it was made yesterday.

And I find that 90% of the changes, I can live with, as they don't affect the plot, or pacing.

it's just that last 10% that are not needed (Jabba in ANH, Greedo, Hayden) and can ruin it for most people.

Lightspeed Jump at the end of ESB
Time
Does anybody know if the closing jump really was in ESB originally. I myself didn't see the Trilogy until 1997, with the SE of ANH and the original (P&S) of ESB and Jedi.

Now, in the Theatrical Cut of ESB, I believe, the closing shot had the Rebel Fleet jump to lightspeed just before it irised down to the closing credits. Now this was supposedly removed from the 1995 THX(Faces) set, but I have no way to verify this. Are there any earlier sources to confirm this secret edit.

IMDB's "Alternate Version" page, for ESB

I would personally like to se a release of the Trilogy that is EXACTLY like the '77, '80, and '83 releases.

but that not going to happen unless somebody digs up the original theatrical prints.

PS. is the door "locked" or "secure"?
