Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

You’re not supposed to play the RARs directly, you’re supposed to extract the media files inside the RARs (typically MKV files). A RAR is like a ZIP file, it’s just a container for other files. I’m guessing that because the Star Wars RAR filename includes the MKV extension, VLC can figure out more about the contents of Star Wars RAR than it can with Empire, and I guess that means it can play the RARs directly. But you don’t need to do it that way.

Okay I got it. Just was confused I guess that I had to extract the file twice I guess?

Thank you!

Depends on what program are you using, but most programs (if not all) should unpack it automatically.

I’m using 7-zip. I downloaded the .RAR files through FRD. I then downloaded 7-zip as was recommended and extracted part 1. It created a new folder called “Multipart” which eventually has the movie in a subfolder called STREAM. I guess in hindsight I’m done at that point, since the file size looks right and the movie plays. But I also extracted part 2 and it created a new folder “Multipart.part02” and a smaller movie file that doesn’t play. Same for part 03 and I stopped there.

I’m guessing I’m done after extracting part 1, but I just wanted to make sure I didn’t need to manually extract all of the other files for some reason.

Yes, you are done, the first file in a multi-part .RAR file is all you need to deal
with. It contains the info about ALL the other parts and will extract them. It will
also inform you if ANY of the other parts are damaged or incomplete, so if the .MKV
you extracted plays you are good to go!

Hi! I’m having the same problem sadly.

So here’s my problem.

Doesn’t work when I try to open the first file in vlc.

Star Wars

Works when I try to open the first file in vlc.

Any idea what’s wrong? Confused why empires works, but the original star wars doesn’t? I extracted them both using 7-zip. I extracted the entire file.

Dunno what you’re talking about since I just, like right this minute, logged into myspleen.

I think he may have meant his particular account.

Yeah going to try it now. Do you advise anyone I should contact in particular? Or should I just ask in the forums?

Those versions, whether or not they end up being final, are probably years off. He’s working on Empire 2.5 now.

I certainly wouldn’t put off watching Despecialized until 3.0 comes out. I would maybe consider holding off on burning Empire until 2.5 comes out, but if you just want to watch the films right now, there’s no reason to wait.

Ahh okay. Is empire the furthest one along? I thought all three were at 2.5? What stage or version are they all at if you don’t mind me asking?

No, it’s the least. It’s currently at 2.0. Jedi is at 2.5. I worked with Harmy to make some updates to SW, so it is at 2.7 now.

Oh didn’t know that. Then thank you very much for all the work you do! Figure I should probably download the newest versions then. I assume it’s all just on myspleen? My old account should hopefully work, even though it’s two years old…

2.7 is probably >99.5% Harmy’s work. 😃

As for your account, it might be inactivated. If so, ask about it on the myspleen forums and they’ll deal with it, instead of trying to get a second account.

Hey so it seems like myspleen is locked permantly? How would you advise I get the most updated versions now?

0.5% is more than I did to contribute!

Aight thanks for all your help!

edit: Yep username not recognized… Unless it was something else… sigh.

Hello,

So I actually first downloaded the Despecialized Edition two summers ago through an invite on myspleen I believe, in a different country of all places, and really enjoyed them. Haven’t watched the film since. I knew the project was updating constantly so I figure after two years the current versions were better now. Always wanted to burn them onto a blu ray for easier use. Was going to do that today, but I heard that apparently the final version, 3.0 was going to be the final version for all three films. Should I just wait till then? Have I completely misheard?
