Jason Wingreen, disintegrated from history by Lucasfilm, for their new doc on Boba Fett
Time

Maybe they aren’t allowed to mention him? I always thought the idea when Lucas sold everything, he had some sort of contractual agreement regarding the unaltered theatrical versions, to not be very credible. But over the years I’ve started to think it must be more than just them wanting to appease Lucas and honor his wishes. Maybe they can legally mention the actors who are actually in the armor, but not the voice actor who was entirely removed and replaced with Temuera Morrison?

The Kenobi <s>Movie</s> Show (Spoilers)
Time

I honestly don’t really like it happening at all, but I’ve accepted that it will. I think it’ll reduce the significance of their duel in ANH, but perhaps they’ll spin it in such a way that provides more substance to that or to other moments in the OT. For example, perhaps we’ll see how Ben came to completely lose hope in Vader ever being redeemed (as he says to Luke in ROTJ)?

In Return of the Jedi, Luke asks Vader to come with him, and Vader replies, “Obi-Wan once thought as you do. You don’t know the power of the dark side. I must obey my master.” To me, that plus Obi-Wan describing him as more machine than man, twisted and evil, suggests they must have met at least once where Obi-Wan tries to bring him back and fails.

Daniel José Older describes his next book, Midnight Horizon, as a noir. I think this could potentially be my favorite of the bunch.

Here’s a great interview about it on Star Wars Explained, and the cover art. Already pre-ordered. Can’t wait!

I’m very happy that I allowed my view of what Star Wars is to grow and expand.

I’m trying to get there as I don’t want to feel such animosity towards most of the Disney era. I’d like to at least get to a place where I can enjoy this era in an alternate universe sort of way.

First let me state I don’t mean everyone should like everything. It seems like that’s what I’m saying sometimes, but I certainly don’t like everything myself, nor do I expect anyone else to. It’s all subjective.

That aside, I definitely am an advocate of reevaluating things from time to time. We grow and change over time, and often we can see things differently than we initially did, especially if we let go of earlier preconceptions. I don’t think I’m ever going to enjoy Jar Jar’s humor or the CGI in AotC, but the story being told in the prequels and especially the animated series is well worth overlooking the parts I’m not fond of.

As for the sequels, a lot of people have a lot to say about them. I think once the dust settles in the years to come, they may be evaluated differently. Whatever your take on them, I think most would agree this is an extremely hostile time to make anything.

This is the whole reason I say a lot of the things I do. Not because I think my opinion is better than anyone else, or I’m right and they’re wrong. And again I don’t expect everyone to see it the way I do. But if I can just get a few people to discover something they enjoy, that they may have previously overlooked, that would just make me very happy.

I was very mixed on the prequels, and therefore wasn’t much interested in the Clone Wars animated series. I still have some issues with certain aspects of the prequels, but have gotten to the point where those things just don’t matter as much as they once did. I think there’s far more to enjoy. As for The Clone Wars, it has become essential viewing in my opinion. Some of the best moments of Star Wars are found in that series. I’m very happy that I allowed my view of what Star Wars is to grow and expand.

What will be the next physical home media release of the Original Trilogy?
Time

I’d sure be interested in seeing the Death Star trench run and the speeder bike chase in a theater in 3D. Not sure they’d go to the trouble to release the 3D versions on disc though. Do they still make 3D TVs?

If we see an official release of the unaltered theatrical versions of the Original Trilogy, I’m betting it will be in the Vintage section of D+ and not on disc.

This doesn’t really make me hyped at all to be honest, but then I’m not that excited for the future of Star Wars TV shows in general right now.

None of these interest you? I’m more hyped for where the Disney+ Star Wars series are taking us than anything else by far, but to each their own I suppose.

The Book of Boba Fett
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Andor
The Mandalorian (season3)
Ahsoka
The Acolyte

Prequel Special Editions
Time

I don’t entirely hate the idea of the Special Editions. I remember being excited for them in the late 90s. If they kept to only improving a few effects and choosing a few of the best deleted scenes to include, I wouldn’t mind them at all. It’s mainly the changing of scenes I don’t like such as Greedo shooting first, the addition of new scenes like Jedi Rocks, and most of all, the suppression of the original versions.

I know the prequels aren’t as popular in these parts. They’ve grown on me, and I think opinions continue to improve. Not sure a theatrical run plus disc sales of Prequel Special Editions would be enough compensation to make it a profitable endeavor. I’m sure there are already fan projects of some sort though.
