George Lucas: Star Wars Creator, Unreliable Narrator & Time Travelling Revisionist...

No one is saying that.

I’ve seen it stated many times, though I wasn’t accusing anyone specifically.

That’s not the problem here. The problem is that they had a chance to learn lessons from the old EU and use those lessons to create a more polished, high quality canon moving forward. And they didn’t do that.

In my opinion, they did. It isn’t perfect, but the continuity is miles better than the old EU. The EU has some great stories, but in my opinion it was a bigger mess.

So we end up having mistakes, contradictions, and bad stories being etched into “hard Canon” status forever, with no clear way to remove them.

I’m just saying, if the old EU already wasn’t considered canon by George and many others, so I don’t get the outrage some had over Disney moving it all to “Legends” status.

Canon isn’t some holy designation. I don’t think anyone is expected to treat the new novels and comics like they’re the sacred Jedi texts. It’s just a way to more easily move forward with new stories. I don’t think they’re writing them in stone forever and always.

Just because it isn’t perfect, doesn’t mean it isn’t worth doing. In the future, any of these new stories could also be moved over to Legends. I glad they made room for new stories to be told, and it’s not like they erased the old ones from history. They’ve even reissued many of them.

I didn’t mean to derail the thread. I just thought it was worth nothing their handling of the EU is one of the complaints I see leveled often against Disney, and it’s interesting to see so many quotes from George on how he always considered it less than canon anyway.

So it’s fine for George to not consider the EU canon, but Disney saying the same this is a travesty. As for the new books and comics being considered canon, I don’t see anything wrong with trying to have as much continuity going forward as they can, even if it isn’t perfect.

They’ve definitely tweaked Boba’s helmet. They probably have to tailor it to the specific actor somewhat or for it to look right in different situations. I’m not too worried about it. Vader had multiple helmets and suits too.

I grew up feeling the first Star Wars movie was when the all characters first got together, so seeing Anakin build C-3PO and R2 on Padme’s ship seemed forced. But if you look at it in chronological order starting with the prequels then TCW, where the droids were essentially already part of their family, then it makes complete sense they’d be around on the Tantive-IV.

Ding Djarin went looking for other Mandalorians and Jedi. Since there aren’t many Mandalorians around, I’m not surprised he met some I’ve heard of. The scarcity of Mandalorians is even mentioned in the show. Jedi are even more rare at this time, so when Grogu calls out from the stone, there’s a really high percentage someone we knew would show up. In my opinion, inventing new characters for these parts of the story would not be the way to go when you have existing characters that make more sense. Again, the show is written well enough you don’t need to know who they are.

ONE WEEK UNTIL BOBA FETT!

If someone goes looking for Mandalorians and Jedi, I’m not surprised when they meet a few we’ve heard of, seeing how there are so few of each left. Meeting them never detracts from the focus of the main story. It’s more just a brief intersection.

But I have no doubt we’ll see even more characters appearing soon. A few castings have already been announced. The way their story left off was meant to be continued, and I have no problem with them doing it in live action instead of animation. And I have no problem if it intersects other stories. The major players in the galaxy are bound to bump into each other from time to time, because their interest often lead them to.

Star Ware: Eclipse - a new video game; set in The High Republic era
Time

I’m so tired of cinematic scenes in games. The faces always look terrible. Instead of getting me more into the game, they take me right out of it.

I also think this trailer seems more like a proof of concept that something they’ve been actually working on. They’re probably not far along at all. They can’t tell us many details because they don’t even know yet.

As for the studio, if there is a problem, and it is something that isn’t going away, and it’s the sort of thing Disney wants to distance themselves from, why even go down that road when it could lead to the project not getting finished and another game not being released? I’m a big supporter of everything Disney has done, except for the video game department and the Starcruiser Hotel. Someone needs to sort those out. I call for a vote of no confidence.

If you’d never seen any of those characters before, and had no idea who they were, the story would still make sense. Sure, there’s some joy in seeing favorite characters, but the show isn’t propped up on their appearances. It stands on its own.

I think The Mandalorian has a great balance of new and old, and if The Book of Boba Fett is similar, we’re in for another treat!

overcrowded with contrived appearances from beloved characters, a la Mandalorian season 2 or The Bad Batch

Strongly disagree. Season 2 of The Mandalorian is one of the best things to ever be shown on a screen. The cameo appearances in both shows make perfect sense narratively and compliment the main characters.

How ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Will Shake Up ‘Star Wars’
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/robert-rodriguez-interview-book-of-boba-fett-star-wars-1235062364/

“If the Book of Boba Fett teaser trailers released so far seem a bit less than epic, it’s due to a deliberate act of restraint: The producers have only revealed footage from the seven-episode season’s opening minutes. “We can’t use the second half of the first episode because it gives so much away,” Rodriguez says.”

I’m sure Fennec and Boba have had a conversation about Omega at some point. Fennec seems to know a lot about her. I wonder if Boba will show up on The Bad Batch or if we’ll get at least a mention here.

The Bad Batch - S1E9 “Bounty Lost”

Fennec Shand - “The only person you can rely on is yourself.”

Omega - “Why did you kill Taun We?”

Fennec Shand - “Part of the job. You should thank me. What their Prime Minister has planned for you is far worse than why I’m here.”

Omega - “What does he want me for?”

Fenne Shand - “You already know the answer. Omega, I’m trying to help you.”

Omega - “You said the same thing on Pantora.”

I’m not getting too excited yet. We’re likely years away. I’ve been waiting on the Lego Skywalker Saga game since 2019, and it keeps getting moved back. Now it’s Spring 2022, but I’m still not getting my hopes up.

This looks very interesting, but still not as interesting as 1313. The output of Star Wars video games has been the most disappointing aspect of the franchise for a long time in my opinion.
