THX Italian 35mm - Feedback thread

Glad you enjoyed it!

To be honest that weird Italian cut seems to be just a made for TV version. The 35mm Italian print this sound came from is actually the same cut as the original US theatrical cut.

The laserdisc you’re watching is a director’s cut made after the success of Star Wars.

Yeah, I know all the story.

Here in Italy I could find only the weird (tv) cut and his strange dub, until now. Waiting for the release of 35 mm scan for the final enjoyment.

Info: FRENCH POSTCARDS - original soundtrack?
Time

from IMDB:

Due to music licensing disputes, the 1986 Paramount home video edition of this film contains almost completely different French-language pop songs as compared to the theatrical and cable television editions.

from google:

...French Postcards first appeared on commercial VHS, most likely with its original soundtrack, on the old Fotomat label (who also released rarities such as American Hot Wax and Fraternity Row) through an agreement with Paramount in the late 1970s.

Dr M, what process did you eventually come up with to restore the Mentor version to NTSC?

A while ago I bought a Hong Kong DVD which was 29.97fps, hard-telecined with terrible field blending - probably a poor conversion from a PAL source. An AviSynth script called Mrestore was surprisingly successful in restoring it to 25 progressive frames per second.

Mrestore has since been superseded by a new script called Srestore; if you're happy with the current conversion, it's worth noting for future reference. On the other hand, if you feel that the current version could be improved, and you're tweaking the discs anyway, it might be worth considering re-doing the encode.

Could you give to me your avs script to recover the 25 progressive fps?

Darth Mallwalker said:Ah yes, the hard-telecine one. One-fifth the bit budget wasted on repeated fields. In fairness to Rikter, he said in the .NFO file it's not his capture either.

I'm looking for an avs script to improve the Blaksvn version, to remove the hard telecine...suggestion?

I solved, thanks...I  also made the english subtitles.
