You know what I think we need to do, list everything out that was once on starwars.com and search for it all because there should be a record of this stuff.

We lost a vast treasure trove of resources and material there when the plug was pulled on that stuff. What’s worse is that it sounds like starwars.com lost it as well, or at least no longer has any kind of access to it.

You know, the modern version of Fahrenheit 451 is not books being burned anymore - instead, it’s vast amounts of information, stories, and knowledge being destroyed when it all got deleted due to uncaring corporate bureaucracy.

Any luck finding this Skot? I distinctly recall seeing these on the sight and I was fairly good about trying to save off any multimedia content, but I’ve been unable to find these in my stuff I saved off. I’ll keep looking for it through. Forgot how much good stuff they used to have out there.

Star Wars: Clone Wars [ Micro-Series ] - Original Broadcast Format / Restoration (RELEASED - DEFINITIVE VERSION)

The final and definitive version of this project has been released.

For more details, feel free to check the beginning of the thread.

Nice to see this project. Back in the day I had captured the season 1 and 2 on a Digital8 tape (stereo using a TRv120 camcorder) and then authored them to DVD in both episode and movie format. Not sure I still have the Digital 8 tapes anymore, but I have my exported DVD projects somewhere if you need any audio queues at this point. Let me know and I can try to dig them up if needed.

The Star Wars Holiday Special: The Definitive Release (Help Needed) (WIP)
Time

Pretty audacious undertaking! A couple of items that you may have missed…

There are three known CBS “You’re On” promos… one with Valerie Bertinelli, one with Alan Alda and one with Carol O’Conner.

Also, I didn’t see the unedited HS cartoon in your list that has the Canadian campaign “wasting electricity turns people off” line recorded backwards.

Hopefully you’re working with Skot if you plan to use his website content in your project.

I captured these when they originally aired using a Sony Digital-8 camcorder and transferred them via the Firewire to my PC… I believe D8 is 720x480. Not sure if I still have the original transfers, but I think I put them on DVD as individual episodes and my own version of a single movie. Useful for reference?

This is super helpful if you can get this uploaded!

PM me a place to upload and I’ll send you the images I have…

Ideas on ripping iTunes Extras
Time

I’ve been looking for the last week too… I was upset when I discovered that my iTunes purchase of The Force Awakens doesn’t include the ability to download the iTunes Extras! I’ve tried a number of apps on my iPad, as well as some of the known PC tools with no luck yet. Not that I need them downloaded, but now I’m so pissed that I’m making it a mission of mine to figure this out.

Kenner Commercials DVD (Released)
Time

Ok so this DVD did get made, by me. Unfortunately my 'client' wanted some time to be able to ship these around to the big collectors before the rest of us could get our hands on them.

If you have a search around on google, it seems as though someone has uploaded it.

One of my favorite collections... Great work DJ.  Any chance of a V2 Release?  I may have some upgraded quality recordings of a few ads.  I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Also, anyone have the link to the original disc and case artwork?  Also, was there an DVD insert?

Info & Help Wanted: CBS News re-broadcasts of the assassination of JFK...
Time

CBS News has been live streaming some amazing, high quality footage as part of their 50th anniversary of the JFK.  Most of this stuff has never been seen since its original broadcast, and it’s doubtful that it will ever be broadcast again. I’m working on capturing as much as I can to put this into a preservation, but the stream is wonky and I get disconnects occasionally, resulting in gaps.  I might be able to fill in gaps from other footage on YOUTUBE, but the quality is far inferior.  Anyone else capturing?  Perhaps we can piece together a quality release of the entire 4 days.  So far, I’m aware of one other… Between the two of us we have day 1 and 2 about 80-85% captured.

Star Wars Holiday Special - WHIO 1st Gen VHS Preservation (Released)
Time

Definitely one of the best off air copies I've seen to date.  The image is very sharp, stable and not overly-saturated.  If its not an original recording, its a very good 1st generation dub. Don't know a lot about the HR-S7100U but it seems to have done a pretty good job.  Does it have a time-based corrector built in?  Any chance of getting someone on the forum with a professional deck to squeeze out whatever quality is left for version 2?  I really enjoyed seeing the original opening again (Hulk & Wonderwoman)!  It certainly reminded me of the excitement I had watching this 35 years ago. I appreciate you posting this!

PS78: Pre-ANH Star Wars Bootleg VHS from 1978 ***"RAW" DVD RELEASED***

I can offer my Panasonic AG-1980 if this turns out to be of actual interest.  '79 is a bit late for a film dub.  If "close the blast doors" is on it, that would be of some interest since I don't think there are many period grabs with the mono mix.

Out of curiosity, are there any companies still making VCRs with time-based correctors?  Checked B&H and their VCR pickings are slim.
